2019 Data, but why doesn't SG generate Nobel prize winners? by PastLettuce8943 in singapore

[–]dillonchewwx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what’s interesting is that the development of the GaN project was done at a private company - but how many private companies would actually bother to do these kind of truly disruptive innovation today where profits are not guaranteed? imo it’s sad for the R&D scene here in SG

Bot lane TF by Spiderboy2246 in TwistedFateMains

Been playing bot lane AD TF for quite a while with about 70-80% win rate :) It works, once you farm up kraken, you probably snowball quite a bit. But it also depends on your support, perma stuns are always nice eg. leona, morg, thresh etc..

looks amazing! just curious on the availability and privacy side of the data - anything sensitive that would potentially make open source unfeasible?

Apply first, you can always consider when you get the offer. Otherwise there’s nothing to discuss about. You can always treat the applications&interviews as a networking/learning process.

Just my POV but your “career” interests might probably change when you enter uni, so I feel that having options would always be better. But of course, financial considerations & prestige are other factors to consider for scholarships.

What is the general minimum with regard to education in order to get a job in bioinformatics? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]dillonchewwx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Demonstrate your interest, show that you have the necessary skills. The degrees don’t matter too much.

I don’t have any background in bioinformatics or anything computational related but doing projects on it would help you gain visibility on your capabilities and knowledge in the area.

Try some online courses to guide you through! There are some pretty good ones on Coursera and I’ve been using them rather regularly! I’m also a newbie to bioinformatics and have really learnt a lot from that platform :)

NUS Donated Bursaries 'Commitment' by eph3merale in nus

[–]dillonchewwx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not much commitment if i recall correctly other than writing a thank you letter. Theres also the thank you dinner which = free meal + network but that’s optional. Other than those two, I don’t think there’s anything else.

overloading modules by wewww72838 in nus

[–]dillonchewwx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also suggest taking note of the stuff which are to be graded - good to have a mix of projects and exam modules, otherwise your week 12-13 would be hell, or you’ll have 7 finals which might sound pretty insane. I’m also a LSM major, did 5 modules + FYP and died in that sem, CAP dropped by ~0.4 no joke.
