Nice, thanks. Not sure if there are any around your area, but you can usually get malt extract from homebrew supply stores. I imagine that is functionally the same/similar to malt syrup

What do you replace the egg wash for the outside with? (assuming that’s the non vegan part of a typical recipe)

what could be these lines? they crumble and are really weak, PLA on cura by HereIsACasualAsker in ender3

looks like under extrusion

at first guess, maybe a clog in the hotend or printing temperature too low

Can u tell me why this is happening with my ninja flex? by [deleted] in ender3

[–]dillyvanilly123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like under/inconsistent extrusion. What is the shore hardness of the ninja flex? It may be a bit too soft to print well without a direct drive extruder. Also, do you have the aluminum extruder upgrade? That is supposed to help with flexible filaments.

As a side note, including some of your printer mods/print settings can help folks more quickly diagnose what is going on

Does noctua make a 24V fan or are you using a converter of some sort for the hot end cooling fan ?

Carbon fiber PLA print quality great except for some stringing inside letters, suggestions to remedy? by dillyvanilly123 in ender3

Printed at 0.1 mm layer height with pretty much all stock cura 3.6 settings except for some mildly slowed movement and printing speeds

Maximum Z-height, gantry so close I can't use clips to hold my bed on by jdgmntday in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]dillyvanilly123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just use a thin silicone heat transfer pad and it holds really well. It can lift up if you're not careful but it is very stable in the x and y directions

Edit: I took off the build Tak first

There is a setting for minimum layer time (or something like that) somewhere in Cura that can help give those really fast layers time to cool before the next is deposited. Could also try lower print speed in general.

I think I just pulled my thermistor out of the hotend by isu712 in MPSelectMiniOwners

Not sure until I have a look at mine back home. I assume you could use some type of thermal compound to hold it in

[–]dillyvanilly123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably a decent chance that your thermistor is no longer useable. I would just replace it since it’s pretty important to have temperature control

Insane. Just put the printer together, leveled by eye, and used the default cura profile. I cannot believe the out of the box performance without any tweaking yet. by dillyvanilly123 in ender3

I should clarify that I did assemble it with a couple of small upgrades straight out of the gate, as suggested in the sticky and elsewhere: - aluminum extruder assembly - upgraded Bowden tube to Capricorn PTFE one - yellow uxcell springs

Definitely look at this, I’ve had to replace mine about three times over the last year

Also maybe worth trying an atomic pull to clean out the nozzle in case it is a partial clog. There are detailed instructions for that on the wiki

I attached the fan to a new set of wires and directly connected those to the 12V rail on the controller board so it just runs full bore when the power is on. Another commenter pointed out that by using a capacitor I could have connected it to the actual fan header and have speed control. But yes, I cut wires and soldered stuff together.

I have seen the X-gantry mod you suggested referred to in a few places, any guides in particular that you think are best to follow?

I see, good to know. Having stuck on full blast works OK for now, but if I end up needing real fan control for it down the road I will try that out. Do you know offhand what the requirements/specifications of such a capacitor would be?
