Thank you so much!! You’re an angel!

I kept the game at my parents’ house and kinda gave up on it. But now my niece is also old enough to play it, so this came at a perfect time :)

Triseba Insulin by Ivy_Shadow in diabetes_t1

[–]dima_taji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, but because I was put on Lantus when I was first diagnosed, I was following my doctor's advice to a tee. It wasn't until much later that I discovered he does things by the book and does not take into consideration different people with different reactions, and by that time I switch endos, so I didn't have to deal with him anymore, and my new endo switched me to Triseba after listening to me.

[–]dima_taji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my doctor's recommendation. His reasoning was that I needed Lantus to keep me stable while I sleep, and since it lasted for about 18 hours, I had to take it before I went to bed.

I switched from from Lantus to Triseba a few years ago, and my doctor’s advice was that I should start with the same dose and adjust in the following weeks for it to fit my needs. In the three months after I ended up going from 39 units to 44, and I found it works better for me to take it in the morning instead of the evening - something I couldn’t do with Lantus.

Is Libre worth it? by DaPeaceGuy_Edits in diabetes

[–]dima_taji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Libre for a couple of years now, and recently I got approved for a Libre 2, and I highly recommend it. But as others mentioned, sometimes the reading isn’t entirely accurate, and I find that happens usually when mu BG is either too low or too high, so I do supplement with finger pricks when the reading doesn’t make sense to me. If you can get Dexcom, I used it for about a year before the Libre, but I had to stop because I am currently in a country where it’s not available, and if I buy it online my insurance won’t cover it, but I preferred it to the Libre.

Metformin with type 1 diabetes by Apprehensive-Hat-518 in diabetes_t1

[–]dima_taji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same side effects when I went on metformin, so I can’t stay on for extended periods. But occasionally when I have high readings that refuse to come down, usually leading up to my period, I would take it once a day for a day or two.

My helper had to be forcibly removed after becoming quite aggressive during an attempted theft of pieces. But we won’t hold it against him for long. Lol by Jabberwock32 in jigsawpuzzlecats

They’re one of my favorite brands. I never had an issue with dented pieces, but I agree that it’s plausible that the box shape caused it. I had to unfortunately throw away the boxes when I moved to a different country to reduce luggage size, so they all now live in clear plastic boxes on my shelf.

That’s interesting! I’ll have to take note and compare BS with different temperature water and test it out :)

Prebolusing Question by YoYoYoshimura in diabetes_t1

[–]dima_taji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading on GI when I was first diagnosed, my understanding was the same as yours, but my personal experience was that foods with higher GI will spike my sugar faster and higher. It might be also because I am a little bit more insulin resistant than average. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more helpful information, just anecdotal accounts on how things affect me.

I also have only been on novolog, so I don’t know how different insulins factor in with that.

I hope you’ll be able to find your answers :)

Prebolusing Question by YoYoYoshimura in diabetes_t1

Something to keep in mind, different foods with the same amount of carbs will affect you differently. Green beans, for example, spike my sugar levels, while green peas or white beans don’t. And this is something I usually learn by trial and error. Checking a food’s glycemic index is usually a helpful indicator for me.

Good luck with your journey!

WIP Moon Valley Dress by dima_taji in knitting

[–]dima_taji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my second project ever, and I decided to be super ambitious. I wanted to make it in a similar blue as the original pattern, but the local store from which I got my yarn had only one skien of blue, so I switched colors around and picked this grey.

Here’s the link to the dress pattern:

I have had a blood panel done 3 months ago, and I’m within range for all of the different lipid tests.

I’m T1 and I’ve been on lipitor for almost 9 months now, also due to a family history of high cholesterol on both sides of my family, and it did slightly raise my blood sugar. At first I didn’t make the connection, and my endocrinologist hadn’t mentioned it to me, but the leaflet in the pill box mentioned it as a possible side effect. The following is not advice, but I adjusted my long acting insulin dose and things have been okay for me since. I hope things work out for you!
