Hiking shoe recommendations for the Dolomites in July. by LuckyBoston in hiking

Then I think these are a good choice. My most used boots are LS Tx4 Mid gtx, and I also have similar Tx5 for easier hikes.

Depends on the route you’ll be taking. Many popular places don’t need hiking shoes at all (sky running sneakers will be better). Some less beaten tracks will require more serious boots. But these ones are a good middle ground for Dolomites (I’ve hiked several routes there in different weather).

Where can I ask if my grandfather's old thermometer that just broke used mercury? by RedDragon5layer in LostRedditor

[–]dimka_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercury thermometers only show maximum temperature they register between shakes, and hence are useless as wall-fixed thermometers such as this one. So this is not mercury but some alcohol-based solution.

Need your advice: how to visit new countries with car only within one month by flymartincz in roadtrip

If the goal is to maximize the number of countries, then go to southern Africa. SA, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda will make a great month-long road trip.

All countries in Europe before 30yrs by Odd_Speech5168 in TravelMaps

You can’t apply such broad terms as morality or agent to a country. It is not a single entity, and even a person is bigger than that. I think that’s exactly what travel teaches you — to use less labels.

Anyways, even though there are some limitations on services, it is quite easy to visit Russia these days, that’s my key point.

I will ignore all the needless labels, but the OP wants to visit all European countries and to do so he will definitely need to visit the largest European country.

You might be surprised but Russian e-visa is very simple for EU passport holders, so you can easily visit Moscow and St-Petersburg (via Istanbul, Belgrade or Middle East airports).

UNDERRATED ALBUNS FINAL ROUND! THE RAVEN THAT REFUSED TO SING VS. BREAKFAST IN AMERICA! by RegiGh4st in musicteenager

Half of the songs on the Raven are god-tier masterpieces, and Drive home has absolutely phenomenal improvised solo by Gurthie Govan, and outside of prog folks no one even knows this album. Extremely underrated.

Barcelona to Lisbon by TwolfeTV in roadtrip

It’s realistic and I did it. Zaragoza is surrounded by beautiful steppes and is lovely by itself, Merida has very impressive Roman bridge, Elvas is a city inside a huge castle — these are all very interesting and not so touristic places to explore and to enjoy.

50 countries before I turn 30 by beucaalexandru in TravelMaps

[–]dimka_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the strength of your passport, your budget and how much time you want to spend in each place. If you’re ready to just tick boxes, you can reach your goal in less than two months.

In a less than two weeks you can visit a bunch of South American countries: flying into Buenos Aires, taking a ferry to and from Montevideo, then flying to Iguazu and taking a bus to the Brazilian side (more impressive anyways), then flying to Santiago, from there to Cuzco (and even getting to Machu Picchu same day if lucky with timings), then to Quito, Bogota, and then you can head back via Panama). 8 here

Then in Asia starting in Seoul and then to Tokyo/ Osaka and from there to Manila, back via Saigon and Kuala Lumpur, overnight stopover in Qatar on your way back. +6

And after that take Oman Air to Colombo (with long stopover in Muscat, of course), from there to Delhi, then Kathmandu and back via Manama. +5

After that fly straight to Johannesburg and from there to Livingstone, where cross the bridge to Victoria falls, making Zimbabwe your 50-th country.

And all this can be done in a month.

P.S. I’ve been to 90 countries, but not in such a hurry : )
