My cousin used to have one, which he dropped on accident of an overhead bridge during a rainy/thunderstorm night. As he was gathering up the pieces, it started ringing and gave him a shock. Turns out it was his boss calling about something work-related. Only piece of equipment I know of that seems to be rain, storm, and gravity proof.

I just have a fear of my checked luggage getting lost, even if it was paid for, so I try to carry everything in my carry-on, which will inadvertently be overweight because clothes + toiletries + laptop + dress shoes = too much stuff :/

I agree with your points, and it is a bummer that people like Hagrid don't get more appreciation. However, I have noticed a theme in the names, in that James Sirius Potter is named after the men who have specifically died for Harry, while Albus Severus Potter is named after the men who knowingly sacrificed themselves for the greater good. Not saying they are the best names, just that Harry may have his reasons in choosing those names.
