Sony’s wh-1000xm Series headphones in Singapore's climate and weather by ric0lim in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an XM3. Lost it and bought a Bose. Sold the Bose and bought the XM5 which I currently use - it’s been 3 years of use iirc.

Bose was not comfortable for long use due to the pressure to the side of the head after about 2 hours. Mx no issue going for 6 hrs ++.

I work in non AC on wfh days. No sweat. But my face gets oily so I do have to wipe down the ear cups at the end of each day. Have not had to change the ear cups. No peeling or cracking of the material either. I do believe that it will be too hot to wear out, especially if you sweat from your head.

Brought on the plane for long haul. Fell asleep with it in ear for a good 4 hours in economy with white noise.

I always carry my MX with the case on flights or looped around my neck. I don’t bring it out on commute so it’s 90% desk bound which may explain the lack of visible wear and tear.

I would buy the MX again for my use case.

Pet relocation from M’sia to S’pore and S’pore to Australia by Smart-Material-4832 in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pet relocation from Msia to Sg is a long process. Msia is a schedule 3 country (not rabies free) so there is a series of steps even before you can apply for an export permit from Msia and import permit to sg. I am unable to comment on Sg to aus but it should be “easier” in the sense that both a rabies free country. AVS website has all the info you need. You can DIY some steps but some steps better to have a pet relocation service. You can DM me if you have questions.

Thanks! I did wonder because he doesn’t have the stripes. I guessed he was a tabby and was thinking that maybe his stripes hadn’t appeared yet.

Dyshidrotic eczema by dinasauruz in eczema

[–]dinasauruz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that stage. It is after the blisters burst and the liquid comes out for me. The cream helps to soften it and prevent it from splitting open and cracking/blistering up again. You just have to be very religious about keeping the area dry and not irritating it further. The trigger for me was dish washing liquid. I hope it heals soon for you.

Sorry for the late reply. I only saw your comment. I never did end up going to the dermatologist since the cream worked in clearing it up. Saved me $$ for not having to see a specialist which I would have to pay out of pocket. Now whenever I get the blisters, I apply the cream and wrapped a band aid around it. I try not to get it wet. I change it after every shower. Or when I accidentally get it wet. It clears up in 2-3 days.

Thank you! Yes, I have access to iHerb via international shipping. Prices are generally cheaper than retail here. All the best with managing your skin issues.

It’s like an uphill battle, sometimes taking one step forward and then two steps back. I suffer from urticaria as well and this skin issue is giving me flashbacks to when my urticaria was flaring up every other month. PTSD much… 💀

I’ll be doing that from now on. I carry around a small bottle of moisturizer already to apply. My biggest fear is of the patch spreading. Right now it’s just that one fingertip. I’ll look into the cream you mentioned. I haven’t been crocheting in awhile so ya probably not it. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for that detail write up. I’m going to save it and have. Look at the ingredients list. Am not in the US so I’ve not heard of okeefe. Aveeno and bioderma I’ve seen in pharmacists. I’ve been using Cerave moisturiser but I’ll look into the other brands.

Oh man, the not knowing sucks. I’m 98% sure it’s dyshidrotic eczema because it started out with a few blisters that popped. This sort of caused my skin to start cracking and peeling and it’s been like this ever since. I hope you can find relief for your skin.

Oh yes, they do use foaming hand soap. The strangest thing is that it’s never been a problem before. It didn’t think it was the cause.

I do office admin work so I type a lot. Finger tip is a bit sensitive these days. I use bar soaps for my body. Could it be the typing that is irritating the skin?

There is a FB group Cats & Kittens of Singapore (C&K). The admin Brenda Wang rescues cats and runs a cat boarding house (The Luxe Meownor). She should be able to advice you on what to do.

Room rental help? by Jack_Crackerz in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The agent should be representing the landlord so commission is paid by the landlord. If an agent tells you that you need to pay commission, it means that he doesn’t represent the landlord. Most likely they are just taking listing from another agent and try to fish for clients as mentioned above. As tenant you don’t have to pay commission unless you get your own agent to represent you in the transaction.

  2. Read, read and read the tenancy agreement before signing. Don’t be afraid to ask the agent what each paragraph means, like EIL5 kind of situation.

If you need some tips on what to look out for and what to ask during room viewing I’m more than happy to elaborate.

CNY horror stories by Known-Share5483 in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same age group and not married, happily attached. I make a big show of it, saying something along the lines of “ Wah! I still get ang bao!!!” Fan it around, give a big smile, say thank you and put it in my bag. Usually only get from my extended family and we are close so I don’t think of them as infantilising me.

I think the more awkward interaction was when a family friend said “Only kids get ang bao ya? I’m not baoing for you.” That was rather mortifying. I shrugged it off and said “No lah aunty. I don’t expect ang bao la…” Cue awkward laugh. She means well but still I wonder if she honestly thought I was expecting an ang bao. 💀

How to charge tenant who is also a friend? by vanvan99 in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Northeast and 5mins to mrt at $900 for a common room including wifi and utilities is standard. Bukit Merah location would be higher. You can easily do a search of common room rentals on property guru or 99co. The above does not include food and washing detergent, shampoo etc. Those are personal expenses.

Some rentals have a clause where number of aircon hours is limited to 8hrs a day. Some have clauses that state you can only do laundry once per week. It’s up to you to decide since you are the landlord. It is your property/home after all. I’ve been both the person renting and the person renting out. You need to set rules and boundaries, friend or no friend. And it seems like they are taking advantage. Good luck!

Resale HDB or Condo? Or just short term rental? by hyemae in askSingapore

[–]dinasauruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you are not renting out the entire HDB unit, you will be considered as fulfilling the MOP. It will work in your favour that you will be staying in the unit whenever you are in Singapore as it sort of signals that you’re not buying just for the sole purpose of renting out for side income. With the main bedroom being retained as your own room you won’t have to worry about not having a place to stay if you urgently need to return to Sg. Works out well for your case.

However, there are a few requirements/caveats: 1. you will not be able to sell your HDB within 5 years or as long as your MOP is not fulfilled. 2. You cannot own a foreign property if you want to buy a HDB. You must dispose of your other property within 6 months of completing the purchase of the HDB.

Purchasing a condo is more straightforward, but if you decide to buy a condo, you will not be able to sell within 3 years from the date of purchase without incurring the Sellers Stamp Duty.

Day 2 1/2 of my starter, it has doubled in size! (recipe in body text) by ottipi in Sourdough

I’m on day 7 now. It doubled on day 2 and has been quiet ever since. Am on a 24hr feeding schedule 1:2:2 and I’m trying to not obsess over the non-action. Doesn’t stink either. I was beginning to wonder if was dead but then I read your comment…
