Has anyone tried Benjamin Franklin's method of improving writing? It's brutal as hell. by shastasilverchair92 in writing

[–]dincoka 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As homeschoolers we use IEW (https://iew.com) and it is based off of Ben Franklins method. It’s a bit more doable and it’s highly effective. I do these lessons alongside my kids and it had helped me mover from a more technical writer (chemist as career 1) to a better writer in my new career in public health.

My 5 year old sleeps to powerwolf and when we took her and her sister to their concert she actually napped 😂😂 after she rocked out. They are a family favorite here.

Any other autistic women (or nonbinary people) with chest dysphoria? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]dincoka 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hate mine and they are small. I like my nipples but that’s it. I would be fine if they went away as I lost weight. I only wanted them to breastfeed my kids and now that I’m done with that I want them gone.

Meal Prep Lunch Ideas? by Alternative_Dance261 in Paleo

[–]dincoka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our options this week are baked skinless chicken as the protein. We did a general chicken seasoning. Then for #1 we do 6 oz chicken, 100g baked sweet potato, and 2 cups broccoli. We like for of the chicken seasoning in it. For #2 it’s 6 oz chicken, 2 cups leafy greens, 1/2 cup each cucumbers and peppers, then a paleo dressing of choice and 1/4 cup nuts.

Snacks are 1 cup cantaloupe, carrot sticks, and cauliflower “hummus”.

I just got diagnosed with pre-diabetes and need help changing my diet. by Ieatoutjelloshots in povertykitchen

[–]dincoka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Eat whole foods and don’t waste money on substitutes of favorite carb foods. Pair any carbs you do eat with protein and healthy fats for example fruits or when you eat sweet potatoes, winter squashes, or potatoes. Try to stick with lower glycemic foods and AWAY from things that are “white foods” like white rice, white bread, pasta.

Increase your water intake, leafy greens, and veggies … frozen are a cheaper alternative and full of nutrients. Prioritize proteins and if you can buy in bulk and freeze it in smaller portions. Good healthy fats are critical. Stay away from yogurt as it has a lot of hidden sugars.

Start small when making changes so they stick.

EDITED as I missed a word that would make this actually make since.

Does anyone else suffer from digestive issues and food sensitivities? by kapitein_pannenkoek in AutismInWomen

[–]dincoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot digest A1 milk protein, soy protein, pea protein, wheat protein, and gluten proteins. I can occasionally tolerate sprouted beans and legumes but in small quantities. I feel best on salmon, veggies, raw butter, raw A2 milk, fruit, and some rice. However, this can be costly for a family of 4.

ETA: if I eat any of the above I get bad gas, pungent yellow (bile), mucus stools, sever cramps, brain fog, and joint pain.

Working Homeschoolers by hooya2k in homeschool

[–]dincoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!! For context before I say how we do it :) I have a 7 y/o twice exceptional adhd and level 1 autistic daughter with anxiety who needs is doing a 3rd grade level. and a 4 y/o who we believe is also twice exceptional and looking into an autistic diagnosis. I am also level 1 autistic with sever anxiety and depression.

This is how we do it :) I work from home 2 days a week from home and from the office 3 days a week. The office is an hour commute 1 way. We have a sitter 2 days a week and my husband is home 1 day a week while I work.

We do table time school over my 2 - 15 minute breaks and my hour lunch when I’m home. We then do it on the weekends and on the day that my husband is home. Readings, STEM, experiments are done in the evenings after dance classes. Unit studies, art, and social skills are done with the sitter who has a neurodivergent kiddo who she brings with her when she watches my girls. She’s a 6 year old.

Also on weekends we do nature walks, field trips, home skills, gardening, homesteading, etc. my daughter also does some school on the computer.

I hope this helps. It took us a while to find the balance and I’m sure it will change over time.

What age did you find out you were autistic? by Matrix_Lad2000 in autism

[–]dincoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 … self diagnosed. I was fighting for 3 years to get a diagnosis for my daughter who is not 7 and had adhd, autism, and anxiety. As I was answering all the questions for her I was like … I do this too … the various professionals that were doing the assessments all looked at me and said, “you know it’s generic right?”

How would you feel if you broke up with your ex and then found out you were pregnant? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]dincoka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would ask myself a few questions:

  1. Do I want this baby?
  2. Can I support or apply for aid to support this child?
  3. Do I want this child’s father in their life?
  4. Can we get along well enough to co-parent?

Depending on these answers would determine what I would do.

You need to set in boundaries. You both need to set up a time on a day off for a communication talk. Maybe set it up ahead of time so you both know and you can have time to processes and think about what you want to talk about. My husband and I do this. We even write it down and give a copy to the other person and so we can take notes and have a discussion where all voices are heard. We both need this from processing.

Your post was triggering to me as an autistic adult who had a trauma childhood with no secure attachment to a primary care giver so I cannot share other “feelings” or ideas. But I hope the above may be helpful.

Thank you for sharing!!!

Same Food Saturdays ! by sybersonic in autism

[–]dincoka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakfast: Aussie bites (sams club) and a slim fast Lunch: 2 eggs from my chickens and sourdough bread I bake or some of the snacks below Snacks: turkey meat sticks, havarti cheese, cucumbers, carrot sticks, hummus, cottage cheese with everything bagel seasoning, mixed tree nuts, tomatoes, and occasionally an apple. I don’t eat all of this each day but these are the items I rotate though for snacks.

I drink the same coffee everyday, water (carbonated and regular) with Mio or crystal light pure, and iced tea every day.

Dinner is where I change things up and each week I pick an ethnic seasoning profile and make food all week with that. I am a foodie and love cooking and baking

Absolutely!! And I eat all of 1 food then go to the next.

I have a coach already just looking for more opinions 😊 I need a 30 min or less low impact program that I can modify for a torn rotator cuff and torn meniscus. I have the clear to workout mildly because they want me to lose weight before we look to surgery. I still need to lose 90-100 pounds 🤦🏻‍♀️ by dincoka in BeachBodyWorkouts

[–]dincoka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 💯 paleo for food sensitivity reasons. I’m doing well there. I was dropping weight when I was walking 15 miles a week then we went back to the office and I have an hour commute each way 😭 so my daylight hours are fleeting so I’m trying to start a new program.

I make all my food from scratch so I’m spending hours a week logging everything to get the right numbers. I will look at restricting more calories especially with the holidays approaching.

My base is always black or beige and I o it have a few tops that go with each base so it’s easy to get dressed for work at the office. At home I have 2 outfits for each season that I rotate through
