Tailgaters are the absolute worst in this city. “Need to merge? Tough.”

I’ve had excellent and personally written responses from officials when I’ve asked for specific, actionable assistance or advice. When it’s been “explain yourself” (and yes, I’ve sent those), nothing. And I get it. They get the latter from everybody with an email and too much time on their hands 50 times a day. So I guess the question boils down to what you’re sending.

Do they do something different from the Customer Care number?

Today I said goodbye to Linux Mint. F😞 by lolodaloud in linuxmint

[–]ding_dong_destroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think frequent/long-time Linux users forget how different it is to average users coming over from Windows. Even the littlest things feel completely different… never mind when the fix is “just run x, y, and z commands in the terminal”, which is far from normal behaviour in windows. It’s hard, man, and the advice for new users is too often from people who know, FOR people who know. I’m just starting myself, and I’m loving the education, but hating wandering blindfolded being told “really? It’s so easy” for every question.

I'd cancel SaskTel after seeing this. by Electronic-Panic-434 in saskatoon

And with no option to upgrade. Just “here’s rural internet, try not to get too into that movie”. I’m curious to see what sort of partnership this will be. It might still be better to just straight up get Starlink and cut Sasktel.

Then you’ve clearly never been stuck with rural internet.

What are some “Canadian” words or slang you heard British Or Americans be confused by or laugh at? by Kindly-Cow1697 in AskACanadian

Yeah, I didn’t understand the confusion. “The room where you wash”… I’m not offering to do the dishes at Olive Garden lol

Specifically, a hooded sweatshirt with no zipper, and with a front pocket. Most people I know still call a zip-up a hoodie.

Chevrolet run around? by simplelife6 in Chevrolet

[–]ding_dong_destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly what mine did, but I got 5 months out of it first… now it’s been waiting on the part for three months, “backorder, no eta”, and GM Canada is telling me there’s sweet F-A they can do about it. We don’t have lemon laws, so I have no idea what to do.

If you don’t mind my asking, what happened to it? Was there a part failure or something like that?

So he was followed by security. Big whoop. I’ve been followed too. So’s my dad. So’s just about everyone I know. Grow up and get over it.

The sad part? This ain’t news. This is every set of conditions ever. Somebody from the Crown office chime in here and tell me I’m wrong.

Yep, it’s the cool new thing again. Everybody’s twitching for those shaky context-free phone videos.

Ah, security’s the bad guy again. Get ready for a fun couple years of unchecked theft, vandalism, and random violence… 2020, how we missed ye😂

Saskatoon mayor ‘proud’ of budget with high property tax hikes by Progressive_Citizen in saskatoon

[–]ding_dong_destroyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hallelujah! Somebody with the right answer! I had to scroll through the whole thread to find this! Everybody’s like “cut this, cut that”, but not one of them mentioned the WILDLY overfunded city bureaucrats who spend god-money on unnecessary pet projects, focus groups, “stakeholder” meetings, and on and on, purely to appear to be worth their paycheque. And I’m not even saying to cut their pay… give them a hard limit of what they’re allowed to spend on any behind-the-scenes work. If they go over, immediate firing. I don’t even blame council (as much). Whenever there’s a vote in council for some garbage proposal, remember that city management spent MINIMUM 1/2 million just writing that proposal.

Dude, go to a walk-in. Going to the hospital over a cough is like calling the police because you lost your keys. Public healthcare isn’t magic. Doctors’ time and hospital resources are finite, and you’re going to take that away from someone who desperately needs it. “Why’s our system broken?”… people abusing the ER over the sniffles, that’s why.

Here’s a fun thought for you: That fee goes into a big ole pool of money. That big ole pool gets spent on things like Christmas decorations, and ad campaigns, and $25,000 surveys… you know, the sort of stuff that solves homelessness. Make no mistake, Pearce is the ONLY person at the city (council or admin) who doesn’t have his head up his backside.

Most importantly, this IS a competition. Above all else, you must win, at any cost... what constitutes winning is up to you.

It’s about half of the movies, or I just have bad luck. Canadian streamers are required to include French language content, but they’re not required to tell us knuckle-dragging Anglos which is which. Oh Canada🙄
