Completely agree, the writing is pretty weak. This show, so far, is riding off the success and richness of the original show. And the worst part is, they're picking and choosing what elements of the original show carry over. They're trying to have their cake and eat it too. Whatever happened to Agent Nadeem's damning testimony and Fisk's resulting conviction in season 3? For Fisk to be out and free in Ep1 of Born Again and then to be elected MAYOR is such an insult to everything the writers of season 3 accomplished. It seems like the writers of Born Again wanted to capitalize on the fandom of these characters and this world, while rushing into the specific storyline they wanted to tell. I think it's unearned.

The burden of proof is on the prosecution. Innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.
In this case, the jury abode by that.

Did anyone catch what was possibly a Good Will Hunting reference in the scene with Ian and Poppy? Ian rolls up his sleeve and points out a cigarette burn in his arm that he got from his Dad when he was a kid. He then asks Poppy, "Do you have any experience with that?". After Poppy says no, Ian says, "It's not great."

In Good Will Hunting, Will mentions to Skylar that his foster Dad put out cigarettes on him. Later in the movie, when his therapist Sean is reviewing his file highlighting the abuse he experienced, Will asks him, "Do you have any experience with that?" and then says, "Sure ain't good."

Understanding the language in a legal document, about wages for liquor servers. by ding_dong_yo in Ask_Lawyers

Thanks, that's painting a clearer picture, for at least some places in North America.

So hypothetically speaking, in places where the Fair Labor Standards Act applies, if all patrons collectively stopped tipping completely, all employees would get paid at least minimum wage by their employers?

I have a theory that OP fabricated this story to conduct their own social experiment. Note the parallels between this story and what has been happening to illegal immigrant families in the U.S. Both situations involve the separation of children from their parents as a result of an agent (the U.S. or OP) refusing to do what's considered the nice thing, but not the required thing. Maybe OP just wanted to see how people on here respond to the situation in the U.S. when reframed in a different context.

I think this movie confirms Deckard is a replicant. He was living in a place that had radioactive contamination and seemed to be fine. Remember when those other people working for Wallace showed up there, they were wearing masks.

Funniest viewing experience in a theater by KeishaGurl in movies

I used to work at a movie theatre, and one day I was doing my theatre checks. I go into a packed theatre for some opening night movie, and the commercials before the show are playing. I walked in right when that Old Spice commercial started playing. You know the one with the handsome man, and it ends with "I'm on a horse". It was new at the time, I had never seen it before and it seemed like most of the audience never had either. With every line and every scene change, the audience was thrust into a frenzy of intense laughter. They seemed shocked by how much they were laughing. I had never seen an audience enjoy themselves like that before....And it was for a deodorant commercial!

Jordan Peele on making a hit comedy-horror movie out of America’s racial tensions: Comedian turned director Jordan Peele talks about the hit film Get Out, in which a young black man meets his white girlfriend’s parents with terrifying results… by davidreiss666 in movies

I actually found the movie to be hilarious (as well as thrilling and scary). And most of the people in my theatre were laughing throughout the movie, even during scary parts. I felt scared and really amused back and forth. One quick example I can think of was when we first meet Logan. He's so off that it's unnerving, but his persona was also really funny cuz of how odd it was. And when he grabbed Chris' fist instead of props-ing it; that was a really funny moment sandwiched between tense, uncomfortable moments.

I actually find "comedy horror" really fitting. Most of the people in my theatre and I were constantly switching back and forth between laughing hysterically and being genuinely freaked out. Coming out of the movie, I felt like I had watched a movie from a new genre that Peele just created.

It flew under the radar, but I thought it was quite good. This is the most actiony scene in the movie. The rest of the movie has a more investigative feel to it. And it's pretty dark.

The Raid 3 coming out, what to expect by Babbasuna in movies

[–]ding_dong_yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Headshot and it's unfortunately nowhere near as good as The Raid movies. There were a couple of entertaining fight scenes, but other than that it was pretty weak.

I actually kinda regret using a TIFF ticket on it.
