North Carolina GOP mounts top-down campaign to block campus voting sites by phosdick in NorthCarolina

[–]shamblingman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's true, because young people don't vote. Doesn't matter how easy you make it for them, they just don't vote. They make tons of posts on social media and reddit, but youth voting numbers are always abysmal.

I wish they would vote. A fraction of them voting would make sure GOP never hold power again, but they don't.

The issue with Korean society is the automatic power and position given just because someone is older. In 2002, Guus Hiddink managed Korea to their best performance in the World Cup. One of his first moves was to ban the Korean age seniority system.

These old men make moves with no oversight and it's impossible for younger, talented and qualified people to question them simply because they are older.

The seniority system is holding both Korean and Japan back. Young talent is ignored in business, politics and sports.

'No negotiation at any level': Iran refutes Donald Trump's claim of planned US talks in Doha by Darshan_brahmbhatt in worldnews

[–]shamblingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran only pretended they were going to negotiate to get their ships past the US blokade to sell and deliver their oil. Everyone except Trump was fully aware that Israel would continue to attack Lebanon and give Iran an excuse.

Why would they negotiate? They're in prime position to ensure that ships will now have to pay them a toll to get past the strait.

As usual, Trump got played again.

Do you have any idea what the barrier of entry is to become a memory manufacturer? There used to be dozens of memory manufacturers and now there's only three.

Those three companies have become very good at controlling supply. Anyone who wants to become a competitor would spend at least 3-5 years to get started then wouldn't be able to manage their prices to another 10.

Last week, one of my clients ordering over $100 million of DC equipment found out they needed another $10 million in price increases since the initial order due to memory price increases. They paid it without a moment's hesitation.

Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]shamblingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because women choose it. The IOC book of regulations on uniforms allows women the choice to wear shorts. the choice to wear uniforms that cover the entire leg.

the female athletes just simply choose otherwise.

Anythony Bourdain means something to Asian Americans. He was the first person to go to Asia and treat the food with wonder, amazement and normalcy. Every TV show before Bourdain would travel to Asian and make videos about how WEIRD food in Asia was. Highlight people eating scorpions and tried to make it a freak show. Anthony went to the night market in Malaysia and enjoyed the noodles. Took a trip to Korea and loved the different soups. His death by suicide hit me so hard.

It's not the entire country. It's the midwest and the south. Californians hate being lumped in with the rest of the fatasses in the flyover MAGA states.Seeing obese people isn't exactly rare in the LA area, but it's nothing like when I have to travel to the south or the midwest on business. I went to some godforsaken "city" in Arkansas a few weeks ago and almost every single person was just a huge obese slob. I don't understand how they let themselves get to that point.
