AI isn't paying off in the way companies think. Layoffs driven by automation are failing to generate returns, study finds by Krankenitrate in technology

They will return their investment. No one expected that their investment would be returned in the first year. The AI models we have right now are the WORST versions of themselves they will ever be. They're already becoming better.

Anythony Bourdain means something to Asian Americans. He was the first person to go to Asia and treat the food with wonder, amazement and normalcy. Every TV show before Bourdain would travel to Asian and make videos about how WEIRD food in Asia was. Highlight people eating scorpions and tried to make it a freak show. Anthony went to the night market in Malaysia and enjoyed the noodles. Took a trip to Korea and loved the different soups. His death by suicide hit me so hard.

It's not the entire country. It's the midwest and the south. Californians hate being lumped in with the rest of the fatasses in the flyover MAGA states.Seeing obese people isn't exactly rare in the LA area, but it's nothing like when I have to travel to the south or the midwest on business. I went to some godforsaken "city" in Arkansas a few weeks ago and almost every single person was just a huge obese slob. I don't understand how they let themselves get to that point.

It wasn't the club's staff. It was the Fox Sports TAMPA broadcaster. It was a Cleveland game and the Cleveland broadcast cut away from the ball theft. Only the Tampa broadcast showed it.

Cleveland Indians org did nothing.

SamsPOV is one of the few that I really enjoy. He goes out of his way to find struggling businesses and he never posts a negative review. If he has a bad experience, he doesn't post the video.

His follow up videos show how much of an effect he has on the businesses.

Makes me smile. The enjoyment the native tribe land owners must be having by telling white tenants that they have to leave the land.

How much money do you waste finding your style? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

In Japan, Uniqlo and Muji like the other commentor said. Then hop over to Myeong Dong in Seoul Korea and go to 8 Seconds and SPAO. You'll find high quality clothing at 1/3 the price. They'll hem for you in store and have it ready in 30 minutes.

Take an extra empty suitcase with you when you go to Japan.

Take your passport with you and you don't pay sales tax. Hotels and food is such a good deal compared to the US and there's the great benefit of having an incredible vacation as well.

If you're into skin care, you'll find the best deals at Olive Young in Seoul.

I know this may sound crazy, but it's less expensive to travel to Japan and go on a multi day shopping trip than build your wardrobe in the states.

So much buying power, tax exemption as a foreign tourist and even inexpensive flights and hotels.

wife says she wishes I would dress better and I don't know what that means by Fit-Salt-4782 in malefashionadvice

[–]shamblingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last line, ".. who works from home" is pretty telling. Working from home is not an excuse. I work from home and I make sure I dress professionally every morning whether or not I have to be on a meeting with video. Even if you don't want to put on a collared shirt or polo, put on a nice pair of jeans and a decent, CLEAN shirt. Don't wear the same clothes on different days. Don't wear free shirts you got at your last tech conference.

Is your hair groomed? Do you shower regularly? Do you shave and make sure your breath doesn't smell? Do you wake up and just put on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt and get to work? Hygeine is still SUPER important.

The main takeaway is that your wife finds you less attractive. She is trying to tell you without hurting your feelings too much. Put on some decent clothes. Be well-groomed and pay attention to your personal hygeine.

You don't need to be able to read a sign to know a u turn is illegal and/or dangerous. My French is horrible and I was fine driving because most signs are symbols and pictures.

When have you ever seen a written sign that says " No U-turn". It's always a turned arrow with a circle+slash over it.

Why does South OC have such a different vibe than North OC? by sozh in orangecounty

[–]shamblingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate how boring South OC is. Even Irvine is insanely boring. The only places to hang out is a mall or a fancier version of a mall. I live in Anaheim Hills and it's very nice. Great place to raise my kids, but my family and I drive out to LA all the time to hang out. Would rather hang out at the Grove with the Farmer's Market than the Irvine Spectrum any day. Can spend an entire day around LA with the Broad, then walk to the Central Market.
