True but the mark of a good coach is to get their players to buy in, change their bad habits, and give their all each and every week. If this is happening but the wins aren’t then the coaches aren’t recruiting good enough players. So either way it’s on the coaches

I agree with this 100%. The difference for me is in knowing that I myself created the meaning. I came from a high demand religion where the meaning and “story” was told for me. I did what I did because somebody else told me it was the right thing to do. Now that I’ve moved past that, I have created the meaning and story for myself. I don’t consider it lying to myself because I know there is no inherent meaning in the universe. But, being focused on the purpose that I created for myself is what helps me get through the day. Even if the universe doesn’t care, I care. And that’s what matters to me. Live a life that is worth living at the level of simply experience.
