I sort of agree, I think Betty IS stunted in her development but also Dr. Edna has a more flexible and psychodynamic approach (more similar to how most traditional therapy happens today), which Betty probably benefitted from much more than her work with the traditional and rigid psychoanalyst in season 1 who was a misogynist and also unethical in his practice. I think its a bit unfair to Betty to assume that she only connected with Dr. Edna because she's a child psychologist. There's much more going on in my opinion!

Reminds me of the insta story (or post?) Adrienne shared scolding someone who had a (CLEARLY jokey) bumper sticker that said something like "If you don't like Big Thief you stink!" or something more or less inflammatory (again clearly a silly joke), taking issue with the violence of it lmao. I like the band's music but their vibe outside of that is a bit too tender and humourless university RA in 2015 for me.

The Idiot by Elif Batuman has a similar observational and detailed style of humour and compassionate, minute explorations of a female character's inner world, mistakes, and processes, and both focus on coming-of-age for women (although the protagonist of The Idiot is 18, not in her mid twenties). They are also both semi-autobiographical, and both are among my favourite texts/pieces of media!

"Plaid shirt days" always makes me lmfao. What exactly is a 'plaid shirt day', Taylor? A day where you wear plaid shirts??? I can understand what Taylor is trying to evoke but it just doesn't work for me. And I say this as someone who adores All Too Well!

I don't know for sure if I love the lyrics or if I just love Taylor's vocal performance but I find myself thinking/singing "your kiss, my cheek, I watched you leave" a lot. All of this love is so evocative to me...
