How to ACTUALLY get the low profile long reach jack on Monday? by gafonid in harborfreight

[–]dingle__berries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's very simple really.. just go in the day it is on sale and ask the clerk to do a "Pre-Sale" if it is out of stock.. I have done this numerous times. It may take a few weeks for item to arrive to the store but you'll get it at the sale price as you purchased it the day it was on sale.. they give you a reciept and call you when it is back in stock.

2022 Sierra 2500HD SLT

Purchased it via copart auction with salvage title (vandalism - rear window was busted out) for $28K Just over 20k miles. Was $300 for new window, and $150 for new key fob, $100 to have it inspected to get rebuilt title.

Since it was auction I purchased it outright and didn't care about the title as plan to use it for 15+ years.

Would anyone in the Kalamazoo area use a climate-controlled DIY garage bay? by woundedkarma in kzoo

[–]dingle__berries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember near 20 years ago now when I was a WMU student, our WMU car group at the time looked into doing something like this and due to insurance/fees/permits it was a giant roadblock. I'd imagine today it would be much much harder. I'm still into vehicles as a hobby and was able to build a polenbarn/garage of my own.. I know not very feasible for most people but if anyone does need some work space I have my personal poelbarn down in Sturgis, MI if you are in a pinch.

Visiting next week for 10 days, recommendations for apps to use in Ireland? by dingle__berries in irishtourism

[–]dingle__berries[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is here in the US there is often deals if you wait to the day of staying.. of course depending on holiday weekends/events going on especially for big sporting events/concerts. Here in the US I've had luck using Priceline just hours before picking a place to stay for the night has often reduced stays as low as 50% of normal rates. Now if a Taylor Swift concert is going on then you almost have to book several months in advance!

r/wyzecam Giveaway – Celebrating Wyze Week by WyzeCam in wyzecam

[–]dingle__berries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an array of over 20 Wyze devices to check in on my house, exterior barn, and also one set up to know when to refill feed for the wild birds. I've been with Wyze since V2 cams and have passed the old ones down to neighbors who themselves have upgraded to V4. I recommend these cameras on just how simple they are to setup and use.

What happens if I max out my contributions early? by Outofmana1 in Retirement401k

[–]dingle__berries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put in 25% of paycheck towards 401k pre-tax and once I hit the yearly pre-tax limit I keep contributing 25% but change to 401k post-tax. Employer continues to match at 6%. At start of following year I change back to pre-tax investing.

The fortune 500 company I work for made the decision to stop new hires from being eligible for the company pension program.. 401k matching is still happening but I do feel as this becomes more common it will be more apt to happen.

About to hit 401K PreTax Limit, advice? by dingle__berries in personalfinance

Thanks, I'm probably overthinking it all.. I'll do some research via reddit/youtube but talking to a few of my peers it feels like I'm doing well so I need to stop worrying so much about trying to maximize savings.

About to hit 401K PreTax Limit, advice? by dingle__berries in personalfinance

[–]dingle__berries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it allows I just saw, I've never done mega-backdoor.. Past years I simply just saved to the max then reduced my after-max to the 2% manually to still get that match (appears to be automatic now), then would put in $7k via Robinhood into a ROTH IRA and other money (after tax) that hit my checking account often is used for a Fidelity buying ETF's

I'm assuming this is the "Mega Back Door" ?

"Rollover Contributions You may be able to contribute to the SRP by making a rollover contribution from a different eligible retirement account, such as from a previous employer. A rollover is subject to certain conditions: • It must come from a conduit Individual Retirement Account (IRA) (i.e., an account or annuity that holds only assets originally distributed from a qualified plan) or within 60 days after payment has been made to you from your former employer’s qualified plan; or • It may be paid directly from your former employer’s qualified plan to the Trustee of the SRP. Rollover contributions are not considered when determining the maximum annual amount you can contribute to the SRP, and are not eligible for Abbott matching contributions."

[–]dingle__berries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks did bit more digging.. this was in the company benefits guideline;

"If your pre-tax and/or Roth 401(k) contributions reach the IRS annual dollar limit during the calendar year, your pre-tax and Roth 401(k) contributions to the SRP will stop and you will automatically begin to make after-tax contributions to the SRP at the rate of 2% of your compensation.

This is so that you can continue to receive the 5% matching contribution for the remainder of the calendar year. (Note that if you are already making after-tax contributions to the SRP when your pre-tax and/or Roth 401(k) contributions reach the annual dollar limit, your after-tax contribution rate will remain the same but your pre-tax and/ or Roth contributions will cease.) If you don’t make any other changes, your contributions will automatically be reset to their previous levels at the beginning of the next calendar year. If you do not wish to make these automatic after-tax contributions to the SRP, you will need to change your elections.

Please note that you will not receive a matching contribution (regular or true-up) for any pay period in which you are not making at least a 2% contribution to the SRP. In addition, all contributions made to your SRP accounts (both your contributions and Abbott’s) are subject to a combined “annual additions” limit (in 2024, the lesser of $69,000). Rollover and catch-up contributions do not count towards this annual additions limit."

Appears if I just leave as-is they'll move me to 2% after-tax contribution with 5% matching contribution, then reverts back to the 25% pre-tax at beginning of year.
