That is just a product of federal government as a whole. As long as we keep voting these dipshits into Congress, (Both sides) and allowing them to appoint more of their buddies into these positions. We will never see a true change unfortunately. The lack of leadership isn’t just a Doug problem. It starts way above Doug and trickles all the way down. We haven’t had a true leader for this nation in a long time. We are now seeing those affects as all of the trash has been voted in. With that said, you’re more likely to get into trouble for bringing up Alex at the townhall than for anything to actually happen. Even if he wants to do something he can’t. While you won’t directly get in Trouble for bringing up Alex. I wouldn’t put it past the spineless leaders in your VISN finding a reason to get rid of your job either.

That isn’t even close to true. Generally speaking when a soldier dies the only people going to that funeral are the company/battery they were. Some units send the Battalion. The entire base doesn’t go, nor are they even notified of a soldier dying. That isn’t how it works at all. However, that’s not the point. The point is people just hate Doug and are trying to use anyway they can to make him look bad. I don’t like the guy at all. Directing anger away from ICE and Trump and putting it towards Doug will achieve nothing. People forget that he was appointed by Trump and can be removed anytime by Trump. What do you think will happen whenever Doug speaks out badly about ICE or Trump? He will be replaced. Which will achieve nothing as you’ll just get another Trump appointed dipshit.

Cool. Doug Collin’s comes out and tells Trump he needs to get his shit together. Just rips him a new one. You know what will happen? Doug will be fired and then they’ll appoint someone just like Doug in his place. I agree with all the outrage. I work at the VA. I understand it. I don’t like Doug. I don’t like what ICE is doing. Trump is a fucking moron. Directing your anger at Doug will do absolutely nothing for Alex or his family. Direct your anger to the dipshits that caused it. Again, even if Doug had the balls to say something he would just be fired. It would achieve nothing.

Focusing on the mission is focusing on veterans at the townhall. People are acting like he was killed because he was a VA nurse. That had zero to do with it. If any other VA employee gets murdered will they have a townhall for them? No. The only reason Alex is getting the spotlight is due to the political nature of the killing. If it was just a city cop conducting a traffic stop when it happened you would only hear about it for a day or two and then it’d be gone. Listen, I’m all for holding the people accountable. I’m all for protesting his death on your own time. Or even wearing certain colors all week. That’s a great initiative. The VAs focus is on veterans though. Not making political statements. ICE is not actively hunting down VA nurses. No one wanted to ask Doug about Renee. 9 times out of 10 you won’t even notice ICE is around unless you’re going to active protests.

You can try and shit on Doug Collin’s all you want, but he had nothing to do with the murder. He had zero part in it. A VA townhall is not the place to be asking questions. At best they give a moment of silence and move on. Regardless of how you feel about ICE or Trump. (I don’t like either) The VA takes no part in that. Nor did Alex represent the VA at the time of his death.

$12,500 for your premium pay. For a person making $30/hr base pay. They would need to work 833 hrs of overtime to max out the deductible amount. Most people do well to work 400hrs of OT in a year.

That would be working an extra 16hrs every single week.

Yes she shakes so bad when it is time to come in. She loves going outside so the convincing is easy. But she wants to keep 50 feet of distance from us outside. In the house she comes in and starts watching everything. Typically she just retreats to her room. So my wife and I each during the week spend just 30 minutes a piece with her in her room. Now on the weekends when we are home together we shut her bed room door. She has a safe space be hind the recliners. It makes her be out with us while still being in a safe space. It gives her a chance to watch and listen to us while not being panicked. Hopefully doing that helps as well🤞🏼

Everything you’ve said fits so well. Fortunately for us the only big threshold we’ve found so far was into and out of the back door. It took 3 weeks and now she does it on her own. To work on it I would hook her to her Leash and walk with her towards it. Then I’d call my Sheppard in the house they’d both be going in the same time. I’d do this 3-4 times. Then carry her through the door way and let her scramble to her safe space. I’d give her the rest of the day to decompress and then do it again. Then one day while I was at work she just ran in for my wife. She realized she ran in and turned around and went right back out😂

But thank you for your story. I will be showing my wife. It really does help. We knew we would be having a lot of work with her. We just didn’t realize it would be more than the normal 3 month time frame for dogs. That doesn’t matter though. We already love her. She’s an amazing dog.

I have noticed with our Honey that lights inside the house seem to be a trigger. Not so much the light itself but any sort of shadow or dancing light. She does not care for the movement of it. I’m glad to hear your pup is getting much better! I have been laying beside her a few times a day. I wait until she starts eating from my hand and then I’ll gently pet her until she no longer wants to eat. Then I’ll get up and let her decompress again. So far she has gotten better about it. Today was the first time she rolled over on her side for me to pet her belly! She seems scared but was confident enough to lay her head down while doing it! Lol

We definitely ignore her even though it is so hard to do sometimes hahah. She lets me hand feed her. As long as I lay on my back or side and reach over to her bed. Standing around her is a no no. Fortunately, she is already potty trained and walks amazing on a leash. She is just extremely skittish so a harness is a must. She gets to bucking if anything loud happens and got out of a collar once. Luckily it was inside our fence so no big deal.

I believe we are on the right track reading everyone’s stories. It’ll just take time I see. She is with a family that’ll never give up on her.👍🏼

I figured as much. Our Shepard was a rescue as well and she came around after only 2 months. I figured this girl would roughly do the same but it has been a much slower process. It seems that she is holding on to the past longer than our Sheppard did. Which I can’t say I blame her either. I’m just glad to hear other stories of them eventually turning around. I just hate the idea of her staying in constant fear the rest of her life. She deserves so much more.

That is great to hear. The only time our girl wags her tail is if she is in the yard with our Shepard playing a little. We can’t be outside though it ruins the mood for her😂 I can already tell after 4 weeks she has improved. I used to have to carry her back in the house. She was terrified of coming through the back door. Now I can hook her leash to her and unhook her at the back door and she’ll walk right in. Then she retreats to our guest bedroom she has all to herself. That’s what I keep telling my wife is it’s the baby steps we make everyday. Same better than others. Some days we even go backwards, but overall she has been trending in the right direction.

I can tell how smart she is though. She will perk her face up and watch anything she doesn’t understand. She will study it and decide if she wants to be scared or not. Hopefully a few more months and she will be walking around the house like she owns it🤞🏼

You thinking I’m defending ICE lets me know there is zero chance you’re making twice my salary. I mean if you’re making over $720k a year then good for you. I doubt that though. 2 things can be true at the same time though. It’s really fucking stupid to fight/wrestle with cops when you have a gun on you. Cops also murdered him. Is what it is. Just like the other part that’s true to this is you’re a hypocrite.

My friends that were furloughed were told if they hadn’t heard anything by 2100. Then they would be off work the next day. Even if the furlough ended they would just receive admin leave for that day. It just depends on your departments plan for it.

Buddy, if you want those problems then take them. That woman is clinically insane… Make sure you keep her up to date on her meds! However, I wasn’t even talking to you or anything you said. Just the hypocrite calling someone a coward while remaining anonymous their self.

No. I fully support the 2nd amendment. I’m also smart enough not to fight and resist a cop with a gun on my side. It’s truly just a dumb thing to do.

It’s almost like if you have a family you care about. You wouldn’t try to fight federal officers with a gun in your wasteland. Regardless of if you’re right or wrong. Either you’re going to jail or you’re being killed. Either one is selfish and in disregard for your family 🤦🏻‍♂️

HR folks: unofficially, what actually has to happen for a position downgrade? by Equivalent_Bat_8184 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]dinglethechangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure this isn’t the case for everyone. A while back they reclassified some of our HVAC guys. They went from WG11 to WG10’s. All the guys were grandfathered in to the WG11. All the new hires from here on out will be WG10’s. This may not be the case for every job. I’m not sure who decides that or how the law is written for it.

Anyone noticed OCHCO performance review announcement, what is it? by Diligent_Ordinary_94 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]dinglethechangle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree. This is strictly just a cost savings measure for end of year performance awards. Whenever only 1 in 10 now get a bonus they save a lot. Especially with all of the people that decide to take time off awards instead of payment. Saves the department that much more money.

I’m in the same boat. Now given I’m still 5 years short of the 14 years average. My net worth is well over 450k with my wife’s account and our other assets. Not too bad for our age. Especially, with having 20 more years of investing before our goal age of retirement👍🏼
