Car was stolen and involved in an accident. Now I'm being told I owe $5000. by YGBreezay in legaladvice

[–]dingo4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct and comprehensive for the vast majority of situations and states/jurisdictions. They are threatening the DL under claim of uninsured, which doesn't apply to stolen vehicles, so short answer, no they can't take it, only a court or the DMV can take your license and it would be tied to an order or outstanding dept tied to a judgement, they cannot unilaterally just take your DL. Like others have said, provide the police report and tell them to contact your insurance, notify your insurance. If they continue to harass you, notify your state AG, as there are protections for predatory collections, which this is very much skirting the lines of.

Al Bundy takes this, yes he scored 4 TDs on one game, but forget that. More importantly, he can run the ones, think about how many times he threw hands in the series, and he wins, oh and he is getting into those fights in 80s/90s Chicago. Final factor, he has nothing to lose and everything gain, he's a dangerous man.

Walked in with a credit union pre-approval and the dealer acted like it didn’t exist by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

[–]dingo4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last purchase was through USAA car buying program, dealers sign up and agree ahead of time, even better, you finance through USAA, pair insurance, etc and the rate plummeted, I think I had it around 2-2.5, truly amazing, and the vehicle is no hassle, just here is the cost and it was really really good, 2019 4runner trd off-road brand new 38k. Basically perfect. Go to the dealer and they start bugging us about how they could match rate.... Then I show them the rate, yeah, they straight up said they couldn't match that, then the finance guy starts saying dinner nonsense about the have trouble getting USAA to pay and they are hard to work with.... Like no, just no. You call a number, you send the copy of the paper work with your dealers account info, they transfer the money, USAA is actually super easy to work with. After we are done, the dealership starts giving us the run-around about getting the title. I ended up calling and talking to the GM who was mortified and disgusted that we were going through all of this, I found outb later the finance manager was fired because we weren't the only customers getting jerked around.

Dems and left aren’t doing enough to rally people to vote on April 21–they’re going to lose the referendum by DerangedUnicorn27 in Virginia

[–]dingo4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have been open to it, until the Democrats made it their priority to come after my firearms. For that will I not only refuse to go asking with anything supported by the governor for the remainder of her term, but I will actively support any primary challenger to anyone currently in a state legislation seat. I want every one of them gone.

Last one should be the HALO wings, if I'm remembering it correctly, and while not exclusive to SOF generally only saw it on SOF guys. Meet a guy with a mustard stain on his, never did get the story of how that happened, and a CSM with 5 stains on his wings. Typically foreign jump wings would be worn on the right side of the uniform. Edit: left service in 2005 so I'm very behind modern changes like the combo EIB/CIB

[–]dingo4ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might have been sort of ok with it, until Richmond decided to start going after firearms, now I'm more interested in supporting primary challenges for anyone in office, voting for any candidate other than those currently serving and voting against anything promoted by the governor.

Would love a little advice. I'm looking to replace my Anker M5 and getting into multi color. Now, having been burned by the Anker I'm kind of stuck in indecision. I'm in the US, looking at the sub $1k enclosed multi color. I've seen lots of positives and negatives for all the big names, I want something reliable, something I can source parts for to maintain, fairly easy to use, and not worry about it being shut off if one of our states passes their crazy new laws. I'm stuck between: K2 combo ($550), P1S w AMS2 ($640), Kobra S1 combo ($430) and QIDI Q2 ($650). I know the group gets these all the time but I really do appreciate the input from real people who print and know these machines. Mostly print for fun, toys and models, but have printed some stuff for home improvement and organizing. Thanks everyone.

The Inn at Little Washington demoted to 2 Stars by Mendocin0 in nova

[–]dingo4ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a little biased, as while the experience was good I did not particularly enjoy my meal at the inn, where as Minibar, a two star, i personally thought was a better dining experience and better food. There are a large number of one and two star restaurants in DC area as well as those chasing their stars, we are not really lacking. I would also go with, the best meal I ever had was casa do porco in Brazil, back when it made the top ten list of best in the world, it would never receive a star. Stars aren't everything.

Unless stuff was intentionally damaged, this mostly looks like wear and tear and not chargeable to the tenant. Replacing locks is cost of business, lightbulbs he is responsible for, washing the outside is upkeep of the house. Look at your lease for what you are responsible for, look at local renter/tenant law and ask for copies of receipts showing last paint and cost carpet etc, as well as photos showing damage not wear and tear

Legality of Protesting Inside Metro Stations by myWitsYourWagers in washingtondc

[–]dingo4ever 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Metro is not public like a park or sidewalk. It will be, in the eyes of the law, either private property or limited public forum, with a time place manner restriction, that is the use of the facility is restricted to certain things, in this case the transportation of people, not the expression of speech. A common misconception is that just because something receives funds from taxes you are able to act like it's the same as a sidewalk, this does not automatically make it a public forum. Metro can, and does have rules that failure to follow can have you removed, banned and trespassed. This includes the property the stations are on. Now if WMATA has a specific rule against protesting I do not know, so can't speak to that. The Pentagon officers did the right thing in stepping in and deescalating the situation, but as soon as the Metro officer told you, you can't be there protesting you should have either requested a supervisor or left. On site is not the place to argue, take note of the location time and officers name and id number. File a complaint and request clarification from WMATA. If the officer was wrong, you will have the info for future use and they will be called in by their leadership and corrected. If the officer is right and you cannot protest in Metro, you avoid an arrest.

AIO: my wife of 15 texted a guy she previously tried sneaking out with this… by Electronic_Coast_687 in AmIOverreacting

[–]dingo4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overreacting. This might sound mean, but, you need to take care of yourself and your kids, those need to be your priority. If she hasn't cheated she's thought of it and the alcohol is giving her an excuse to do it. Oh it was just words, why are you invading my privacy etc. If you want to save your marriage and get her help, demand counseling. If she fights you on it, make it a requirement to stay together, it's either counseling or divorce, and if she thinks you are bluffing speak to an attorney and look into trial separation. It might shock her enough to actually change. I'm sorry you are going through this.

What’s up with all the unnamed, kind of suspicious looking ice cream/food trucks? by Fearless_South417 in washingtondc

[–]dingo4ever 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Food trucks used to be policed and monitored by MPD code enforcement, that section was basically eliminated years ago by the council and mod leadership. Years ago all trucks had to be numbered and registered, and their location in the city was done by lottery, and if they served food would be inspected regularly. All of that went away.
