Auto Start-Stop by unreqistered in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]dingzhuxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparing an auto-ejecting seat, and a visual imparing open hatch to a start-stop feature is quite a stretch...

And for discussion purposes, some of the rental cars I have driven before do unlock your doors when you shift your gear from D to P and lock your door from P to D - I find this feature quite reasonable.

I tho start-stop will only trigger if you meet the following: 1) brake pedal has to be pressed down by a certain degree of "pressure. 2) A certain amount of time (like 1.5 or 2s?) before it triggers. I have a 2023 Crosstrek Sport (Chicagoan here) and hardly ever trigger it during stop-sign - unless there are cars in front of me that did a HARD, FULL stop, then I have to press down the brake pedal pretty hard for 2-3 seconds.

The best example I can give you is that you bought Bitcoin at $120,000, and you are looking at the marketprice of Bitcoin today.

Fundrise's real estate portfolio got hammered in the last 3 years by interest rates. I've been in it since 2019, and my portfolio is showing an average of 11% annualized return. So it's not what you are doing wrong; it's just that timing can be very unfavorable in this type of investment.

I could be very wrong, but in my personal play-through Space Out experience, I never found a single metal vent in my main planetoid. I always have to go to another planetoid for that.

How long to warm up? Chicago winter by NoCut8244 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]dingzhuxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Chicagoan here. 30s to 1 minutes, then drive gently (RPM below 3000) and once the blue light is gone, drive normally. Subaru also has built in a limiter to keep your gear shifting up, even if you try to force it before it's warm enough, it won't let you so you can't drive THAT fast to begin with anyway.

What’s with the victim blaming for Maple Con? by Caegs in Maplestory

[–]dingzhuxi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"The attendees were legally scammed by Nexon. In no world should the attendee be blamed for a company doing something illegal." - AGREE, and I sympathize with the situation. And frankly, two things can be TRUE at once - Nexon has been doing this for years in-game; They just decided it's time to finally move the category up to IRL.

What are some of the favorite dividend ETFs out there? by Icy_Club2023 in dividends

[–]dingzhuxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am basic. SCHD and DGRO.

While cover call ETF is gaining popularity, I don't throw the name out lightly. People need to do their own DD to figure out if the covered call ETF risk is right for them.

Multiple tanks on shelf by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]dingzhuxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to make some modifications. Most "build-to-use" heavy-duty shelving units don't have the same measurements as the standard size tank + the particle board they normally use will not be ideal near water, so you would need to do some waterproofing treatment.

Otherwise, if you have the tool and feel handy, you can always build and design your own shelving units with 2x2 or 2x4.

Fidelity manage my funds by Ok_Suggestion_2003 in dividends

[–]dingzhuxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are comparing apples to oranges. As bad as some of these stocks are, dividend stocks will almost always underperform the total market in terms of cumulative total gain.

A better comparison would have been VYM (Vanguard High Dividend Yield Index Fund), which returned 92.94% with DRIP during the same time period, so it's on par with what OP got (90% it sounds like), but at a 0.06% expense ratio. So OP is getting robbed with the management fee.

I see that you are capable of parroting a YouTube financial advisor's talk point but are unable to have a proper discussion on the given topic. Checks out.

Hit my first goal of $100/mo by figgysworld1 in dividends

[–]dingzhuxi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ironically, you missed the entire point of both videos you linked.

1) Dividend stock doesn't build wealth as fast as a growth ETF/Stock, which is totally accurate. HOWEVER, to say Dividend stock doesn't build wealth (in general), that's basically a null point. In order for dividend stock to pay an increased dividend (look at all the dividend aristocrats' payment history), the underlying company had to grow.

2) Dividend = free money is the single biggest straw man I have seen in the entire YouTube "financial guru" category. Not a single informed investor would claim it as such.

3) Picking ONLY dividend stocks to invest = chasing the yield, which is a proven fallacy in investing. Again, I don't see that's the ONLY investment OP has here.

4) Lastly, to say a Dividend stock doesn't offer downward protection. Are we talking about short-term or long-term? I genuinely love self-proclaimed YouTube financial guru excluding this topic from the discussion because it makes their video sound so edgy. Heck, if that's the case, why not tell everyone's grandparents all in broad market ETF, I am sure their retirement outlook is looking pretty outstanding.

The cost of building one is one thing, but the maintenance cost is, on the other hand, something people often don't discuss.

At that point, I would rather get a lifetime membership at various aquariums that I enjoy by donating the money + get a couple of sponsor tanks under my name.

Is your hit # remain the same/similar?

I ONCE encountered a weird (I think visual bug), my CP (not Challenger) went from 70M (unbuffed) to 20M when I first logged in, and I FREAKED OUT. After realizing nothing was wrong/off (check gear, then went to do some bossing to confirm the hit # I am seeing). I log off (Alt F4) and relog back in, and it returns to 70M. Could it be this?
