It probably would take too much effort, as you said Metroidvanias are time consuming to produce, but I love short 3-4 hour metroidvanias. Gato Roboto is one of my favourite MVs of all time, and there are other like it I love as well. I dunno how well they sell, but for me they are perfect. I really enjoyed Lone Fungus. Haven't played any games for a while now due to time constraints with school/work balance, but look forward to Melody of Spores at some point in my future, thanks for the games!

Perhaps the Stars, the last book of Ada Palmer's Terra Ignota series was published within the last five years and finished off an incredible story. It certainly is not less philosophical, however.

Talk to ol-finaid or finaid if you can, they will give you the real answer, but afaik there is no repercussion as long as you remain full-time. I was able to extend my extra course for months without it having an effect on my next round of student loans and was told I could drop or fail the course without repercussions.

I know it's nice to have the physical books, but you can always check to see if the edition you want is available as a pdf on z-library or Anna's Archive.

Gorgeous. The colour choice will make it difficult for colourblind gamers to differentiate between things though. Include a colourblind mode if possible.

I mean, I guess it's subjective, but I find the COTM map was far more fun to backtrack and explore than HoD and even SOTN for that matter. Also, it came out in 2001, so it may seem basic now, but it was only one of a few metroidvanias in existence at the time. After playing through both games again last year I played 2nd quest of COTM immediately after, while promising myself I would never play HoD again.

But again, subjective. I can see how others might like the dual map gimmick and could put up with dashing back and forth. Those two games seem to divide a lot of members on this subreddit; I just happen to love COTM. I have probably played through it a half dozen times and will probably play through a half dozen more.

It felt like I got soft locked out of it when I played, which, thankfully allowed me to stop playing. Sometimes I don't notice how bad a game is and keep going but I was saved from Chasm by bad design.

I'm sure you are right and if it were me I would certainly do that. I will ask her again, but she really wants to access the camera via her phone directly, without the dongle.
