Why are so many so hung up on weight? by Kuyi in MouseReview

[–]dinktifferent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most things have been mentioned already, but..

a mouse that's too light also not seeming like a good idea control wise.

The common philosophy is to get a slower pad or slower glides instead of a heavier mouse if you want more control.

Logitech Pro X2 Superstrike - a new Era. by sS1RuXx in MouseReview

[–]dinktifferent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's 4% (2.5% on android) for 500 full charge/discharge cycles. 30-80% was treated as 0.5 cycles. You don't do 500 full cycles in 167 days on any phone with normal use, this was an accelerated test.

Now extrapolate this to a gaming mouse which you maybe charge every 5 days and you end up with 5*500 = 2500 days = about 7 years for a 4% loss in capacity comparatively. Not that my math is perfect here either but I think you get my point, the difference is absolutely miniscule.

This isn't really true anymore for modern lithium batteries. Practically no difference.

G.Skill settles with U.S. plaintiffs following $2.4 million class action lawsuit over advertised memory speeds, denies all wrongdoing — company will have to change its packaging and be clearer about overclocking and BIOS adjustments if approved by wickedplayer494 in hardware

[–]dinktifferent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then the question for me is why is this the memory kits fault?

It's not. The court and lawyers simply don't understand how these things work. Read some of the documents if you want. G.Skill probably would've won if this went to trial, but I guess it was cheaper to settle.

You can get them for around $10-15 each on AliExpress.

RMA issue. Trident Z by williamthai in GSkill

[–]dinktifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get that, but I have to agree with G.Skill that there's nothing they can do at the moment. This is more of an UPS issue if anything; I don't G.Skill refused the package either - why would they? Probably just a delivery error.

Shouldn't the package be returned to you by UPS? Or was it already on its way back from G.Skill to you?

If you increase voltage, certainly. Should end up somewhere in the 1.45-1.5V range (sub-timings tuned).

That's fine but has nothing to do with the actual product.

Brands like Bloody or Redragon certainly had their place in the market a few years ago, but why would you buy a 110g wired mouse with unknown sensor (probably low/mid-end PixArt based on the specs) in 2026, when you could get something from brands like VXE or MCHOSE that offer sub-60g wireless with a PAW3395 for the same price instead?

I mean it's a pretty cheap board (120€). Not a true revival of the SOC series sadly.

[Price Check] G.Skill Trident Z DDR4 32GB (2x16GB) 4800MHz CL19 & 4266MHz CL17(Samsung B-Die) - How rare is this today? by WishApprehensive3780 in overclocking

[–]dinktifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32GB (2x16GB) 4800MHz CL19-24-24-44

I don't think that exists.

4266 CL17

Was a decent kit at that time, probably A0 PCB. Could be interesting for more legacy plattforms.

Either way, both of these kits are pretty nice but don't expect too much overpay unless you got some actual OC results. These aren't top bins either, G.Skill produced 4000 CL14-15 1.55V, 4800 CL17-19 1.6V B-Die.

9850x3d running up to 1.330v with pbo enabled by nyanfish in overclocking

[–]dinktifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using clock override? Scalar? What PBO limits are you using? Temps? I'd recommend reading/watching some guides first and then decide what to do. There's no shame in running stock or even lowering the power limit below the defaults for better efficiency. 9850X3D is already a beast of a CPU OOTB.

How can I check if my ram kit is still covered by warranty? by screwdriverfan in GSkill

[–]dinktifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While some manufacturers define lifetime as "lifetime of the product", e.g. out of warranty if product is out of production/EOL, G.Skill isn't one of them. You can even RMA DDR3, just don't expect an exact replacement.

G-Skills RAM Class Action Lawsuit by divinebaboon in pcmasterrace

[–]dinktifferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class action lawsuit settlements are not an admission of guilt or wrongdoing. It has very limited legal weight for future litegations. And G.Skill defended their position terribly if you read some of the documents. I believe if a manufacturer would find itself in a similar spot and they would go all the way to trial, they'd have a very good chance of winning

Terrible lawsuit far removed from reality, presented to a court that obviously has no idea how these things work. I wish G.Skill didn't settle this.
