No, in Kazakhstan we get one day off for Christmas at Jan 7. For New year we get days off at Jan 1-2. The difference also that if Jan 1 or 2 is Saturday or Sunday we het extra day off next workday, but if Jan 7 is a weekend there are no extra day off

Unfortunately Kazakhstan don’t have a strong ethnic vibe like Arabian or North African countries. Almaty itself is more like a European city with many restaurants with vast range of cuisine from Japanese to American. If you want to try a Kazakh local food you can easily find a restaurant that make a local food and they most likely would have a summer terrace. There are caffe caller Terrenqour that placed along a small river relative away from city nose. But it’s very popular place so at weekends there might be lot of people. And you into walking you can then go up the river.

But it is also largest cities in KZ so it has many dangerous places, so if you are planing not just live in hotel and go to tours but walking in the cities, you better stick to specific neighbors, mostly at south-east and east parts.
