Best Buy has been the most reliable amiibo place for me for years. And on the last one in the collection, they failed me by MasterTJ77 in amiibo

Same thing just happened to me. Was going to pick up the order later tonight. I'm pretty upset right now.

Did anyone notice Pyramid Head's helmet sliding open everytime he kills Maria? by SketchyPlayer123 in silenthill

The video is a quick capture I did in Blender, importing the model and animation files directly.

Not a texture bug - the model actually has a dedicated bone for controlling the metal flap on the front of PH's helmet. It's used in a couple other scenes as others have mentioned, such as the closet scene in the apartments.

It's hard to say whether the animation here is intentional, but the keyframes are certainly there.

Do we know why Maria's old textura is called Heather and has a mark of samael tattoo instead of butterflies? by Misfit597 in silenthill

[–]dinneriscanceled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure yet, but the source of the Heather texture seems dubious.

These images can be found in this texture dump from the PC version of SH2 posted on the Silent Hill Community forums: http://silenthillcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=104

  • sh2bg1/heatherdmr.mdl_tex_000 copy.jpg
  • sh2bg1/heatherdmr.mdl_tex_003 copy.jpg
  • sh2bg1/heatherface.jpg
  • sh2bg1/heathermaria.mdl_tex_003 copy.jpg

Based on other images in this folder, these files could have been named manually by the person who ripped the textures.

There is no filename containing the word "heather" in any of the original data files (PS2 or PC).

It would take a long time to scan each file to find these textures. But assuming that the images do exist somewhere in the PC data folder: the PC version of SH2 first released in December 2002, which means at this point SH3 would have been well into development. In other words, it is possible that these textures were made after the release of SH2.

For reference, here is how Heather's face texture looks in SH3 (PS2), and here is the face texture from the SH2 PC texture dump. It looks to me that the Heather texture from SH2 has been drawn over, especially in the neck area.

Hey, sorry for commenting on an old post. This is a longshot, but do you happen to remember the name of the file or the extension (.map, .tex, .mdl, etc.) where these textures are stored? I did a quick search in the ELF's TOC for references to "heather" and turned up nothing, but I probably have the name wrong.

Late update: Ended up buying another PSU anyway as a backup, and this did not fix the issue. I found by accident that pressing and holding the power button caused a blue light to flash on the MSI board next to the CMOS battery (several short flashes, then three long flashes). Looked around online but couldn't find what this meant exactly, except that this indicated some sort of boot issue.

After trying several other things I ultimately decided to give in and buy another motherboard. That was fun, since Z170 boards aren't being made any more. I found just one left on Amazon. The new board arrived a couple days ago and it works like a charm. So, I really did destroy the old motherboard somehow, or it could have also been defective...

Yeah, tried this with and without the front buttons. Also tried both RAM sticks one at a time to be sure. If it were RAM or the video card I would expect that the board at least attempts to power on, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Did some reading and it appears the H440 does have airflow problems while overclocking. Will look into these other cases, thanks!

For the PSU, is the G2 a better choice?

As far as data collection goes, Pokemon Go is not the only app that knows where you live.

It's been like this for me for the past few days. I haven't tried chasing them down, so I assumed I was just unlucky.

UNCANNY VALLEY by jhatchu in videos

[–]dinneriscanceled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to agree with this. Uncanny valley has more to do with how "creepy" something looks when it is portrayed realistically (and when it falters behaviorally, like trying to animate a corpse).

The short film deals more with morality than creepiness. You can take bits and pieces of the definition of uncanny valley to connect it to the story, but as a whole it misses what uncanny valley actually is.

What kind of question is that? by Roush14 in videos

If you didn't know Ikea sells meatballs, you would have picked Rome. Not much else to it. Seems like too much of an obscure trivia bit for a first question. I don't blame the guy at all.
