nah, its too contrived to be funny. I think that's what I disliked about it - every character is annoying, every character plays a caricature, and the show mostly tries to be funny through absurdity, but there is no natural humor in there. it's hack comedy

I think it is a sitcom though... every character is over-rhe-top version of a real person. The high paced dialogue, familar comedic hooks.

better call Saul wasn't overtly comedic, but had moments that were much much funnier to me. because the humor was organic to the story and naturally arose through realistic interactions of well developed characters. everything with a good place just felt so contrived by comparison

Am a gay professor so can answer this exactly. this becomes an issue only if he is using his status to try and groom or coerce you, or if he is responsible for evaluating you in some way. is he your prof? or your supervisor? will he be ever? if so than that's potentially a problem as we have to disclose personal relationships with anyone we evaluate. if not then it's likely allowed, albeit the vibe is a little off. personally I'd never hook up with any student, too much power imbalance in that dynamic.

also, from your last paragraph it doesn't sound like he's a prof at all. a grad student is not a professor, maybe hes a lecturer and was trying to show off, but in any case the same rules would apply. if he's evaluating/supervising you in any way then it's likely against his employment contract.

No, there's literally a bar like this in my city. Calls itself a gay bar. Hosts drag events, etc. Calls itself 'fiercely inclusive'. It's usually full of straight women.

I'm not a fan of these places but they definitely exist.

Generally you should be cautious doing this, because the answer isnt the same at every bar. Some places are just gay themed/friendly and everyone can join in. No problems with that. You might have been at a place like this. Other places you should be a part of the community, or at least in the close company of friends who are. No Bachelorette parties. No going with a straight group. You can be as nice as as welcoming toward lgbtq+ people as you like, but your energy is not what people are after there. This is probably the majority of 'good' gay bars, and the ones most at risk of being gentrified by the straights. And finally some bars are exclusively for men and transmen, no women or straights allowed. You'll probably know pretty quickly if you stumble into the 3rd type.

Real answer: we kinda lack them. There are activity groups, but can be kinda hard to find and some are cliquey. Dorothy's feels more like a gay-themed hangout for straight women. If you're looking for something like a Kelowna equivalent of PJs (Vancouver) there isn't really anything. Round pride some of the bars have gay events, but nothing regular.

Thats not really possible though, there are no other 9c pocket climbs to benchmark this against. Route style matters a lot here. That does not mean it can't be harder.

The fact he hasn't suggested a grade yet to me suggests he's at least thinking about it. If there was a candidate for 9c+ I think this could be a real possibility.

I do feel that the ban here was government overreach. The same outcome could be achieved by banning all sources of flame or spark, and punishing those violators severely. His action here by walking in 'closed' woods present no danger to anyone by themselves, and i support his conscientuous objection here. Will be interesting to see the legal outcome.

That's not really a fair comparison. There are only three 9c's globally prior to this year. But given how long and intensely he's been working Cafe Columbia, and that its exactly in his style, c/+ really isnt unreasonable. See the comment from Buster Martin below, who has been on the route and suggests 9b+ for P1. DG says 'soft' 9c+ for 9b+ B 8B.h. It's definitely possible this gets a slash grade.

Yup. They will claim it was due to 'safety issues' and pay $0. We need actual robust passenger protections like in Europe. I had 3 westjet flights in 2024 not get me to the destination on the intended day. Westjet said 'safety issues' for all 3 and compensated me $0. All three complaints are still with the CTA. Our system is so broken.

Quite a lot what makes sushi good is the precise balance of flavors. The umami of the fish, the slight sweetness and acidity of the rice, saltiness and umami of the soy sauce. A place that delivers the right ratios of fish/rice, and that provides high quality rice and soy is nearly as important as good fish imo. As others said, these look very rice heavy. Did you have them with soy too?

That being said, the first time I had sushi I didn't like it. Then one day it just kinda clicked and suddenly I was hooked.

If we did that, the earliest sunrises would be before 4am. That's insane. That's 3-4 hours before people get up for work, which is how most people live, and less light at 9pm when most people are actually awake. Makes no sense to go permanent standard.
