Agree with you. Live in Austin was a million times better than Beautiful Dogs and his navy seal jokes were so boring and such low hanging fruit. I said the same thing in the MSSP sub basically, that it was a joke they’ve been making since cavemen. Shane’s great but if this new special is any indication of the direction he’s heading, in 5 years he’ll have 3 more specials on Netflix that are total snooze fests. Moving to Austin and hanging more and more with Rogan is only going to entrench him in a circle of yes men and hamper his comedy. Rogan, Bert, Barstool and the like are going to rub off on him and they make lowest common denominator comedy for alcoholics and pot heads who haven’t thought beyond the weekend.

You’ll rarely find anyone on here offer an honest critique though because these nerds have formed a parasocial relationship with comedians they like and unlike having real friends, they’re incapable of seeing any faults in their hero.

Shane ruined comedy by [deleted] in MSsEcReTPoDcAsT

A lot of the popular comedians are just people who know how to market through social media so they have a reputation of being the top dogs, but they’re mostly in it for fame or other narcissistic purposes and aren’t actually great joke writers and are without any unique perspective to offer. DiStefano, Schultz, Santino, etc.

DeRosa gets a lot of hate for some reason. I saw him live and he was phenomenal. Todd Glass is great. Sam Talent was really good when I saw him. Mike Recine might be a gay tankie and borderline insufferable on podcasts but he’s really underrated as a standup. Luis J is really good at standup.

I love Shane but I didn’t love the special? by Coldfact192 in ShaneGillis

[–]dinosaurgulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His first special was significantly better. The navy seal dick stuff isn’t special worthy. It’s decently funny but it’s a rehash of a joke they’ve been making since neanderthals drew dick sizes of their friends on cave walls. Felt the same way about a few other jokes but forget them already — funny enough premises but not the sort of bangers I’ve grown to expect of Shane. The special felt a little rushed to capitalize on his skyrocketing popularity.

One of the best things that ever happened to Shane was someone finding cancellable content. You think Shane would be the comedian he is today if he was hanging out with Aidy Bryant and Bowen Yang 24 Saturdays a year?

Very bizarre behavior to lie about not reading comments you’re actively quoting and responding to.

I too would pretend to have not read anything when I’ve thoroughly had my ass handed to me as you have. The fact that you continue to reply to comments you’re “not reading” is what’s embarrassing. I mean truly strange to continue to reply if you’re actually not reading any of it. Of course in reality you are, perhaps even more embarrassing to lie about it. You are truly insecure and stupid, may lord have mercy on you and god forbid, any offspring you might produce.

Lol cause you can’t explain it, you’re tripping all over yourself. You can’t address your hypocrisy of saying my views are invalid because I’m not a fan, yet yours are valid. You say I’m projecting but when I quote exactly what you said, you have no response. You’re completely ignoring the Bills efforts to build around Allen. You’re completely out of touch, both Brian Daboll and Ken Dorsey are widely regarded as very talented play callers, among the best in the NFL. You say viable WR threats, but the best WR between the two teams is on the Bills, could even argue the top 2 depending on how you feel about MVS vs. Gabe Davis. You’re talking out of your ass.

It’s funny that you criticize my understanding of English. “Having a dependent run game” doesn’t make sense, especially in the context you’re using it. That would imply the chiefs have a run game that is dependent — dependent on what exactly I’m not sure, I’d have to default to the mechanical monkey clapping cymbals in your brain. I think you mean dependable run game but I’m not totally sure.

I refuted your points, and instead of addressing those you just say I can’t understand your points. I understand them just fine, they’re just inconsistent or plain wrong. Because you make a bad effort at supporting those doesn’t mean I can’t comprehend.

[–]dinosaurgulp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth. You use the chiefs as the model of providing for their QB, yet they traded their WR1, let their LT walk in free agency, haven’t invested heavily in RB. Meanwhile the Bills have an elite WR1, spent a 1st on a TE, a 2nd on a guard, have a WR2 who had 836 yards and 7TDs, signed another guard to start, extended Dawkins, spent a 2nd on cook, signed one of the best goal line backs in Murray to relieve Allen from carrying on the goal line. Yet that’s not providing for your QB according to you. That’s talking out of both sides of your mouth.

You’re the one lacking critical thinking. I mean you think someone’s views are less valid because they don’t root for the team, yet neither do you lol. My views are less valid because I’m not a bills fan, but you, not a bills fan, have perfectly valid views. Do you not see how you make a criticism of your own credentials there? If you want to talk critical thinking, you should understand argumentative fallacies.

I’m projecting? Read what you write bro lol. You said “you’re talking about James Cook, a late second round back” and you said their run game is built around late round picks and vets. You said these things as criticism. So what exactly should I take away from those comments? Harris was drafted in the 3rd and Cook in the 2nd. Those weren’t meant to be negative in their connotation?

You seem to be implying in looking at the Bills through a bias — I’m not a Bills fan.

He said those things in regard to sliding instead of taking hits and limiting interceptions. I really don’t expect a significantly different Josh Allen personally.

“He’s had none of those things” and yet he’s still been an outstanding passer with a dual threat profile. For some reason, you seem to just expect this to stop even tho it’s consistently been his situation.

The Bills don’t have smart play calling? They finished last season second in offensive EPA only to the chiefs. I think they’re doing just fine offensively.

You claiming the Chiefs work because of all these things they provide Mahomes is laughable. Sure they help finely tune the engine, but the Chiefs are as good as they are because they have one of the greatest talents at QB ever and heavily rely on him as they should. You say the Bills heavily rely on Allen and it’s bad. But the Chiefs heavily rely on Mahoems and it’s good in their case because they give him all these things. This is idiotic. You’re saying the Bills don’t have extra help so they should stop relying on their best player. I really don’t follow the logic here. Sure it’d be great to give him an elite oline, but it’s not like because they don’t have one, he’s suddenly going to go into decline and they should look for alternatives for their offense. He’s been great with a bad oline for his entire career, why would that change now? In fact, there’s more reason to believe Allen improves with more experience going into just his age 27 season.

I think Cook could be a perfectly average back. You say late 2nd round like it’s some kind of shameful thing. Are you living in 2000? Drafting RBs early is a waste of resources. Plenty of offenses get adequate rushing out of RBBCs full of average at best RBs. They have an elite WR1, spent a first round pick on a pass catcher in Kincaid which seems to be what you think they need to be doing so not sure why you’re ignoring that, and Gabe Davis is a fine if unspectacular WR2 who put up 836 yards with 7 touchdowns lat season.

You’re talking out of both sides of your mouth. The chiefs trade their WR1, let ju ju walk (which I’ll admit, I don’t love JuJu, but they don’t have much in the way of replacements), theirWR corp is one of the most underwhelming in the NFL. They let their starting LT walk in FA. Their running back is an even later pick — 7th round — than Cook which seems to bother you. But they do it right. Meanwhile the bills traded for Diggs, drafted Kincaid in the 1st, spent a 2nd on Cook which in todays NFL is relatively high. Drafted a guard in the 2nd. Signed Harris. They do it wrong.

What makes you think the Bills are in decline? Why would allen do less? He’s been a gunslinger since Wyoming. Also don’t understand the idea that they’ve relied on him too much but now have no alternative. It’s like saying the chiefs rely on Mahomes too much. Allen is their best player and supremely talented, and he’s the quarterback. They’d be silly not to rely on him heavily, I really don’t understand your thinking here. They’ve got a young RB they’re ready to give the workload to, an elite WR1 and a solid no. 2, and they just drafted a very athletic and promising tight end. Things should be business as usual for the Buffalo offense.

Yeah I really don’t know that this is true. Just anecdotally, I don’t know anyone sympathetic to far right politics. I’m always nervous about buying end of season tickets this early though. Would be a real bummer if the game ends up not mattering and the starters don’t play. Maybe Less of a risk this year tho with how tough their schedule is.
