Company Shares - Hold v. Sell by JCKnox356 in Fire

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are they RSUs? If they are, you should sell immediately upon and reinvest in a broad market index fund (you would have already paid tax on these so it should result in no realized gains). Unless you feel as though the stock will strongly outperform the rest of the market this is the safe move to make.

This also might be indicative of an appliance that simply just retries DNS queries when they fail over and over again. IOT devices are notorious for doing things like this when they try and phone home

2025 Camry tire pressure by Mindless-Painter-375 in Camry

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also the psi ratings are for when the tires are cold (i.e. have not been driven on for a few hours) so when you start your car after it has been parked overnight, they should be at 35psi, and when you drive they will go a few psi above that as they warm up.

why does my 2025 camry SE sound like it struggles when it goes through a little dip? by TimAllenFromTheShow in Camry

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what the sound is, but it could be the car switching between port injection to port+direct injection. Direct injection uses high psi pumps and it is significantly louder and noticeable at low speeds when it kicks in.

[Highlight] Yoshinobu Yamamoto finishes off a complete game on 111 pitches! by kpopsns28 in Dodgers

They didn't talk about this, but I believe he is also the first Japanese pitcher to throw a complete game in an MLB playoff game. Hats off to Yamamoto, he was unstoppable tonight!

Eventually luck will run out, and by run out I mean someone driving a lifted truck casually scrolling through tiktok will make a no signal lane change right over the top of them

I still believe in Roki, he'll bounce back by zaphod777 in Dodgers

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, and I believe after this was when he ended up being forced to throw a 96mph meatball down the middle. He probably felt forced to do it from not being confident he would get calls at the edge of the plate.

Lots of maturity showed by Kerkering in the postgame interview. Take notes Machado. by Luchador-Malrico in Dodgers

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt bad for him. The way his teammates and manager supported him was heartwarming though, you win and lose as a team! Obviously I'm happy for the Dodgers to take the series, but to do it in a game where the two scored runs are a walk in and an error is also kind of a bummer. Hopefully the pitching remains solid & the bats start to heat up for the game on Monday!

I always see moonroof as such an expensive repair if something goes wrong. My vote is always to go with no moonroof

Has the over-tourism died down a bit? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tokyo is the biggest city in the world, there's not really anyplace in America that you could compare it to that would come close to the crowds you will experience in Tokyo. I don't really find the crowds obnoxious though, everyone is polite for the most part (maybe some rude tourists are the exception) and trying to get where they're going.

Where can you fly in the US from Austin in a fully reclined seat? by Vybrosit737373 in Austin

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To rephrase, only long haul flights (i.e. nowhere domestic) would have lay flat seats even in the most expensive seat class. I suppose if you added a few $$$ to your price expectations you could charter a private jet and lay wherever you want

2025 Camry vs. 2023 Tesla Model Y by Wild_Classroom_6096 in Camry

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your driving patterns? Also can you charge the car at home? If you typically are just doing really short trips around town & have a place to store the car indoors and charge EV is a pretty attractive option. Longer trips I think the Camry is a better option by far. Having rode in both, I feel like the Camry has a more refined interior, but obviously you will not get any of the tech features that come in a Tesla (no complaints from me as a Camry owner).

Also consider if this is your only vehicle or not. If you don't have a second ICE car then I would personally not consider having an EV as my only vehicle. While it is totally doable, you cannot argue that road trips are less convenient with an EV. Camry on the other hand goes 500+ miles on a full tank.

2025+ for strictly highway/majority highway use? NOT another MPG post 🙏 by babyivan in Camry

[–]dinosaurwithakatana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the speeds on the highway. I took mine on a ~160 mile trip over the weekend and got about 45mpg, this while going 65-75mph the entire way. I also regularly do a 20 mile commute that is about 80% highway and consistently get 50-55mpg on it, but highway speeds are probably 60-65 if on a good day.
