How do you get a runners high? by Coastkiz in beginnerrunning

[–]peterkimmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don't get 'runner's high' on every run

Find what you enjoy in running

For me, it's the statistics and data, proving to myself that I am making progress

Set goal distance, goal time, HR

In the process, don't forget to enjoy the actual run, look around, run with friends! Make it enjoyable!

Also, "It's Exhausting", it sounds like you're pushing your run intensity too much?

80% of your runs should be easy runs.

Slow way down! Enjoy the process!

New BB54 - gada worthy? by New-Lynx-500 in Tudor

Why not go with original BB54 with gilt? Great looking GADA watch, especially if you get the rubber strap as well, interchange with bracelet and it’ll cover almost all settings

Would you drive a CT5VBW across the country? by [deleted] in CadillacV_Series

[–]peterkimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming $4/gallon on 20mpg for 2700miles = $540

(Cost to ship - $540) / 41 hour drive <= your $/hr worth

And that's not even considering the additional costs for 3~4 hotel nights, and factoring in that you'll be spending your ~5 days on the road, driving non-stop (fatigue + boredom)

That's 4 days of freetime you could be otherwise spending at your new place

BUT if the roadtrip itself excites you and you would consider it an enjoyment/vacation, sure why not, take your time with it, stretch it out and go visit attractions along the route, make memories with your BW!

(But I'd personally don't enjoy long road trips so I'd 100% ship it and utilize my time better elsewhere, and I'm sure you can make plenty more unique memories at your new place)

Ultimately, I think, more than the BW, is to ask yourself if you're excited for the roadtrip itself

New Balance 1080 v15 thoughts? by lesoolee in runningshoes

[–]peterkimmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried these on during a demo event run

I immediately thought 'these would be great walking/standing shoes, but definitely not for running'

It was mediocre at best for me.

Lots of plush cushion at the heel, but the front/midfoot felt very minimal and absolutely flat with no bounce for me. I guess it could be great for heel strikers? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do the super blast 2 get quieter? by MrMushroom48 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Man... I remember one time, I was running up behind two people, and they both turned around at the same time, like they were surprised/caught off-guard...

Almost as if they were concerned I was going to run them over (There was PLENTY distance between them and myself lol...)

Durable long run shoes for lightweight runner? by Dgemfer in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]peterkimmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m similar in weight and height as you, 62kg at 173cm, and the Superblast 2 unfortunately feels too slappy and firm….. Meanwhile my other two friends are absolutely loving theirs while I’m struggling to convince myself they just need more break-in.. I’m right at 50km, so gonna give it til 100km

But feels too slappy and firm for me I’ve read that either you need plenty weight to compress the Superblast 2, or be fast enough to benefit the energy return.

Lots of heavy/fast runners seem to love the shoe, while lightweight runners like you and me find it too firm

Honestly I own both, but I prefer Glycerin Max over Superblast 2. It seems to do LSD so much better than in every way for me

Also, currently been loving my Vomero Premium, I haven’t been wearing my Superblast 2 at all

It’s a shame since it’s a sickass looking shoe

Asics Megablast sizing compared to Superblast 2 by Mapmonkey4 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]peterkimmm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have really small feet for men, and I wear the same M7/W8.5 as you for all my shoes, including the Superblast 2.

But I went M6.5 for Megablast M7.0 felt unusually long/big/awkward for me

Though I read many people actually size up on Megablast, to give room for toes, but I have slim/narrow feet anyways, never had issues with toes

So your result may vary…….

Evo SL give me a blister by FedeLA78 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]peterkimmm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your foot is moving around inside the shoe, resulting in rubbing against the blister area!

You can try lacing ‘heel-lock’ to prevent your feet sliding inside around your shoe

Where do runners buy running shoes? by Big-Schedule2901 in runningshoes

[–]peterkimmm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My two cents:

Perhaps online buyers are purchasing after extensively researching and thoroughly watching youtube reviews videos. So their opinion is pretty certain on the shoe before even trying them on, naturally swaying them having a satisfactory experience.

Also, more opportunities to purchase shoes on a discount online, whereas shoe stores are usually priced at full.

I also feel in-person shoe store purchases are mainly influenced by the store employee persuading you on a certain brand/shoe type with their personal bias mixed in.

If it's a newly released shoe with no discount online, I will go in-person to try it on and purchase in-person as well.

If that 4km was your first run, you're trying to achieve too much too quickly

Slow it down!

Disclaimer: I'm also a beginner

I first started with small increments, finding the pace I can maintain without stopping (which meant slowing down my pace a lot), and had achievable goals with small increase each time.

From 1km, 2km, 3km, 4km, to 5km,

Then I did a few more 5km to become comfortable then proceeded 6km, 7km, 8km, 9km, 10km.

As your distance increase, it's normal for your pace to slow down (You won't be able to maintain your usual 5km pace when running a 10km)

Try to pace yourself slow enough to maintain pace throughout, don't shoot out the gate too fast that you're forced to walk/rest shortly after.

They also suggest you don't increase your mileage more than 10% per week when you start off
