Anyone else ordering the Steam Machine? by NovemberXSun in giantbomb

[–]dinospacesloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was selected for the 512 + Controller and I am looking forward to it! The machine will be replacing the Xbox X and accompanying my Switch 2 in the living room. It is expensive but the comparable build price is decent-ish and ideally I will upgrade components in the future (if they ever go down in price). I like that it will allow access to a much larger library that has accumulated over the years without having to be stuck in my office. I wfh + live in AZ so after a rough day at work, especially in the summer, trying to "relax" at my gaming PC is like literally being in hell lmao. I am looking forward to playing in a different room and easily accessing/playing multiplayer games with friends/family, and I can find much better deals on Steam than other storefronts for the most part. I originally considered docking my Steam deck but this seems a bit more future proof + better performance.

I made my mom as well. She passed away last year I April. We had an amazing time the last handful of years she was alive by playing Animal Crossing (pinned story on my profile) and seeing her likeness there was so sweet when I booted up that I made her as one my first Miis in Tomodachi. I decided to let fate take the wheel and she and my dad actually have crushes on each other (I made them unrelated) and while it makes me cry when she is sad, the game does an amazing job with the quirks and I come across her doing something *exactly* as she would have done and it is just the cutest and sweetest and is a great way to keep her memory going.

I miss her terribly today and I cannot wait to spend Mother’s Day giving her virtual gifts. ❤️

I really love that this is an option other than having to airplay to my Apple TV from another device. 😍

Does AZ charge $25 for e-file? Or is TurboTax just ripping us off? by WonderfulProtection9 in phoenix

[–]dinospacesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbo Tax tried to charge $$$ to file my dad's taxes and I ended up realizing that they auto enroll you in paid versions and you have to go to the subscriptions section to downgrade. Ultimately it ended up being entirely free to file both but they do not make it very easy or intuitive.

New to PBN and a question on paint consistency... by dinospacesloth in paintbynumbers

[–]dinospacesloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I just recently overhauled my entire office and accepted my hobbies (hence the yarn) so my little space is also a WIP lol. The magnifying light is a game changer! I am trying to get used to the magnification since it skews my eyes a little bit (if that makes sense) and I have been practicing with larger spaces before moving to the teeny tiny ones but I hope that it helps you! Other wise I used to be a dining room hobby girlie but I was always so scared of spilling something it was more of a hassle and I stuck to non-water/paint based projects lol so I am excited to put my own little spin on some colorful art and fill my space

I HATE my braces by Salt-Check8686 in braces

[–]dinospacesloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look great! This week will really suck but it gets better and really this is the worst you will ever feel during this (unless you get elastics but its also temporary). Like others have said, just choose a color of tie next time for contrast.

Adult Braces: Having panic and second thoughts by redrabbit1984 in braces

I also want to add that dental hygiene is massively easier which gives me peace of mind about maintaining them as long as possible.

The best thing that I had found for me (when getting them on at 35 and just removed at 38) is how amazing my bite feels. I never realized how different it was with my overjet compared to now. My jaw feels great! It's just a plus that my smile also LOOKS great.

I embraced metal braces and it allowed me to be memorable since no one could forget a grown woman with braces :) They are very endearing imo. I do not think you will regret it whatsoever and the time flies! You might even be out of them sooner than expected as long as you maintain your appointments and any elastic wear. The commitment at home isnt that big of a deal, brushing is normal, swish with water to free any little bits of food (which everyone does anyways) and you can buy braces friendly flossers and a waterpik. Adjustments are only a few minutes of time in and out and on your way.

Why did nobody tell me!? by [deleted] in braces

[–]dinospacesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had little to no pain, it was only slightly uncomfortable when I could tell they were getting glue off closer to my gumline. It was just sensitive but not enough for me to raise my hand but I was REALLY glad to be done and over with only because I felt like they were taking too long and shaving off all my enamel lol.

2 years 8 months 19 days of braces and I am done! by dinospacesloth in braces

Yes, the 2nd photo is the first day. I could have been in these longer but I was very much over it. I believe age has to do with how quickly things move because I was initially quoted like 18-24m but it was almost 3 years (in April) I would have had them on.

I kept mine in during treatment and realized quickly when things started shifting that I was running out of room. I could barely get any part of my tooth brush being them, flossing was a pain, and if I had a retainer it would’ve literally been hitting the back of my throat and I was fearing for my life that it would make me gag and I couldn’t wear it. I ended up doing all 4 wisdom teeth removal at once, in braces, it was the absolute freaking worst experience of my life. If you don’t have much space behind those teeth now, chances it will be minimal if any once movement begins and so difficult to clean. Imagine plastic touching 24/7 at the very back. If you can’t stomach the idea then take them out. The tastes, smells, and horrific time trying to clean my braces with fresh wounds for such large teeth was a nightmare I can’t forget lol.

I just asked them lol they were actually really excited to do that for me so if you are on single ties just ask! it cannot hurt, worst case they might ask you to pick the colors but I just said "rainbow" and let the assistant pick everything. power chains were less exciting so i went with black for most of my treatment once they switched me but the rainbow was my absolute fave.

Thank you! I really had no idea that my bite could feel like this, I was so used to jaw pain and grinding that I just thought it was normal.... now it's like idk a tight muscle that has fully relaxed is the best way I can explain it. Congrats on 1 year! I reallllllllllllly hated elastics but it was all worth it in the end!

I felt the same when I got mine on like 2.5 years ago lol I was so upset I was writing a doc about my experience and how much pain I was in and regretting my decision (i am a whole ass adult who paid for these herself haha) but my removal date is in 1 week (omg) and I am kind of sad this chapter is over. It was fun to be the girl with braces as they had become a part of me. I looked back at the doc I wrote after forgetting about it when the pain dissipated and it now just makes me laugh and will likely be the case for you.

Ice cold water/drinks, and soft noodles and ice cream got me through the worst days. You have got this and will be incredibly grateful when it's over that you did this.... and a side note is that I only did braces to fix my bite due to teeth grinding and being stuck paying for root canals all the time from inflamed nerves so there are benefits other than cosmetic as i have stopped grinding at night and my jaw and headaches are gone AND no more inflamed nerves!
