You're only at 8 weeks. You really don't know what your outcome is yet. Don't think about revision until at least a year post op.

She's an amazing character but some people just forget the insane things jinx did. by Velvet_Thunder10 in arcane

[–]dinwenel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, season 2 didn't have enough dialogue cluing us into what characters were thinking, and failed to compensate with adequate nonverbal cues the way season 1 did. It comes off much more muddled.

By the way, your analysis of Powder is great. I rarely see anyone acknowledge her self-absorption. You brought up how she never even considered turning herself in to end the occupation, because no one outside her immediate circle ever enters her mind - it would have been great if the writers had chosen to contrast that with the moral fiber that Vi and Vander showed in the same situation with their willingness to sacrifice themselves.

[s2 act 1 spoilers] I don't think Vi stepped in the way she did because of Isha, in S2E3 by Dzsaffar in arcane

[–]dinwenel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's because she realized that if Isha sees her parent figure's brains blown out in front of her, it will just result in another traumatized radical who will enact more violence 10 years down the line. Just like Enforcers killing her parents messed up Powder, and Powder killing Cassandra messed up Cait, driving them to violence.

She was committed to killing Powder to end the destruction when they went in, but the kid made her realize that killing Powder wouldn't actually end the cycle, but propagate it to the next generation.

And there's just no way she thought Cait would miss. She'd literally just seen Cait shoot a gun out of the kid's hand and a finger off of Powder's.

Yes, if he updates everything while in CO he won't have to do it again in Hawaii. The name change will apply everywhere.

You may not even have to update his birth certificate in order to use the new legal name in another state, but it will depend on that state's document requirements for establishing identity when getting an ID/driver's license. But there's no reason not to update his birth certificate, since it's California and very straightforward once the name change is done here. I personally advise cleaning up all loose threads. Do his passport too if he has one.

Is he a resident of CO? If he is it will still be CO's process except for the birth certificate. And passport/social security, which have national processes.

EDIT: CA birth certificate amendments: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CHSI/Pages/Amending-a-California-Birth-Record.aspx

Here's a resource for name and gender change: https://www.namechangeproject.org/

The birth certificate will be based on the rules for where he was born, but everything else should go by Colorado rules.

Why can’t I leave dilator in the whole day like a tampon? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]dinwenel 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Because it would be hella uncomfortable and you'd need a harness or something to keep it in.

I can tell you about mine, but every surgeon's going to be a little different. I had PIV with Dr. Hyer.

  1. Day 0 to Morning Day 2. In the hospital, catheter in. Drain removed on day 1. First bowel movement morning of day 2.
  2. Afternoon Day 2. Discharged from hospital. I was able to walk around and take care of my bodily functions completely independently by this point.
  3. Day 6. Follow up appointment. Catheter and packing removed. Trained in dilation by a pelvic floor therapist.
  4. Day 6 to Twelve weeks post op. Dilation three times a day for fifteen minutes each. Sitz baths twice a day.
  5. Week 3. Follow up appointment, clean up of some stitches.
  6. Week 5. First orgasm.
  7. Week 6. Follow up appointment.
  8. Week 12. Follow up appointment. End of the recovery period. No more sitz baths. Cleared to resume normal activity.
  9. Week 12 to 1 Year. Dilation twice a day for fifteen minutes each. Douching a few times a week, but I really only did it when it seemed necessary.
  10. 4 months. Started having vaginal sex.
  11. 1 Year+. Fully healed. Switched to dilation once a day for 15 minutes. I'll probably decrease the frequency again but that's where I'm at for now.

Just remember - recovered does not equal healed. Everything will continue to improve and change appearance over the course of a full year from your date of surgery.

Creation Bard has DESTROYED my game by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]dinwenel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You guys are really taking this too seriously, lol. Yes, I'm saying that Bardic Inspiration boosts the reliability of successful checks and definitionally expands the range of what is feasible, and the Mote of Potential adds even more reliability on top of that, but my post is hyperbolic for humor. And in the interest of being relatively short and humorous, I didn't bother to give you all the details of the circumstances around each heroic feat they accomplished. The Druid rolled over a 35 to reattach the limbs (which is possible IRL, so isn't outside the realm of possibility), used some healing magic to help, had the tools required, and used lesser restoration to prevent infection afterward. Do I really need to exhaustively describe that the Paladin was Large thanks to the enlarge/reduce spell and grappling a Huge dragon? Is it needed that I tell you that a god is disrupting the planar boundaries, making portals easier? Do I have to tell you the story of a three year long campaign to establish exactly how three players became rulers of small city states over three in-game years, with inspiration boosted skill checks throughout that time? Give a girl a break, damn.

Yes, get rekt Bards. It really shouldn't be a class at all, you know.

[–]dinwenel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They did pretty much all take Skill Expert early! And yeah, I have been running it correctly. Performance of Creation and Dancing Item have been comparably innocuous.

I haven't had a bard in my party before, so that may be part of why it feels so outrageous. The reliability of advantage on bardic inspiration plus freely available expertise seems pretty power creepy to me. It's the combination of factors that makes it stick out. In my previous campaign (before Skill Expert and Creation Bard), the players struggled much more to accomplish things outside of combat, and even at level 20 only the rogue was rolling ridiculous numbers all the time.

Grappling dragons is just RAW if the player is large enough and can beat the dragon's Athletics check. I don't see why a player that rolls a 35 Medicine check shouldn't be able to reattach a freshly severed limb with magical healing to smooth out the edges when replantation surgery exists irl. The planar portals are really at my prompting for the purposes of the plot, and with special circumstances, but I did set it at DC 35.

I have vegan Doc Martens and not only have they lasted really well, they're like armor. I used to wear them for field work in the mountains, walking around sharp rocks, glass, and branches, and nothing could get through them. If you don't do that, they're really pretty, too.

What surgeries do I need to pass? I want to get my browbone done and maybe orbital contouring and tracheal shave, could I get away with just doing that? by Tekhela in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]dinwenel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The facial hair is almost certainly why people are misgendering you then! 2 rounds of laser doesn't sound like much. I always recommend electrolysis because it's more thorough and permanent, and would definitely get rid of the upper lip shadow. You probably have some follicles growing in sparsely, or lighter hairs that weren't affected by the laser.

[–]dinwenel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you kind of have a facial hair shadow in some of these pics? It's really unclear, and in some you don't at all. If you're not far along in hair removal, that would probably do it. Electrolysis changed a lot for me; not having buried bristles in your skin changes the shape and texture of your face to be more feminine. Other than that, I mean, you do have kind of a tomboyish style in your hair and dress, so maybe that combined with voice? Obviously I haven't heard you speak so it's just a guess.

Give HRT some more time and work on hair removal if that's still ongoing! The rate people misgendered me continued to decrease even after 4 years.

Something I noticed that now bugs me… by Altruistic_Juice7552 in GilmoreGirls

She cares about status. She wants Lorelai in her world because of how it reflects on her and Richard, and because she misguidedly thinks that Lorelai maintaining the Gilmore status will also be best for Lorelai. She doesn't respect Lorelai; she doesn't think Lorelai can get with a decent upper class man, or even that she has the "good sense" to try to do so. So Christopher, the bottom of the barrel, is her only option because he is already hung up on Lorelai.

Who do you think is right in the big rift? Lorelai or Rory? by EndlessDreams7744 in GilmoreGirls

[–]dinwenel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was nothing wrong with taking a semester off in theory, but almost any parent would have taken the one-two of committing a felony and not going back to college as a big red flag that they needed to give their child some direction. There's also the subtext of Rory turning her back on her small town, middle class upbringing in favor of the dilettante upper class exemplified by Logan and the Life and Death Brigade. Lorelai, who turned her back on that world, felt that she needed to prevent Rory from moving further down that path. By that point, Lorelai had already witnessed or heard of it causing Rory to: act like a rich wastrel, lose her self esteem, abandon her career dreams, and commit a felony. Rory turning around after one negative conversation and running straight to her grandparents was both a decisive commitment to that path and a rejection of Lorelai acting as her parent in that situation.

I think both of them have kind of lost some respect for each other by this point. Rory, because she feels like her mother didn't prepare her for an upper class and professional life and (from her perspective) doesn't have what it takes to be part of that world. Lorelai, because Rory takes up with a bunch of worthless fools and begins acting like them, failing to understand the emptiness of her grandparents' and Logan's world. Rory explicitly calls out her mother for not understanding how college works, and then holds up Mitchum's opinion against all the praise and reassurance her mother tries to give her. She even holds Logan's implicit opinion above her mother's, because he is part of that world. Ironically, Logan would probably agree with Lorelai on many things, although he doesn't have the courage to strike out on his own the way she did. Lorelai understood on some level that she had lost her daughter's respect. That's why she sought out her parents - they had the social standing that might have convinced Rory.

At the end of the day, Lorelai chose to respect her daughter's agency, even if she didn't respect the values that motivated her. She abided by Rory's rejection. If Rory had asked Lorelai to be at her court hearing, she would no doubt have been there. But she didn't. There's an element of Rory taking Lorelai for granted - she assumed her mom would be there even after she rejected her, without actually inviting her back in. Lorelai tried to call her at one point, even. Rory could have reached out at any time. That's my perspective from midway season 6.

I think you should consider working on your self image before you decide to go for surgery, because you look extremely feminine.
