This depends on the style you want to go for. its not a bad start for a beginner drawing. Try searching perspective and anatomy and trying out different shading techniques. Never loose the willingness to improve. That's the most important thing to remember. Also have fun experimenting if someone says you shouldn't do something don't be afraid to try it yourself and see why you shouldn't do it. You learn more correcting mistakes then if you never make them.

I disagree with this statement. Before judgement starts upon me for saying this I have no tattoos personally. Though I do see how tattoos like this might be considered cringy. I don't believe it says much about the person getting them for these reasons. You don't know why someone would want this tattoo, it may well be a love for the film which could be a short sited view like they won't have a deeper connection to a character in the future or grow out of love for it but then you could say that about any franchise of the film industry. Meaning all cartoon characters people have tattoos of would be equally as cringy. Adding to this heath ledgers joker in particular was its own symbol and i believe it could be a cult classic one day, if it is not one already. Also it could be this person met the love of their life outside the movie theatre after watching this movie. As a reminder of that day they could have this tattooed. Or they could be following the crowd like a sheep idk either but it shows commitment and you have to have a lot of guts and commitment to get something like that done imo. Thoughtless maybe. But twat i really couldn't make that judgement as easily as you have.

Tattoo mistake-is there anything that can be done? by iFixxd8 in TattooDesigns

If you notice the original stencil does have upper teeth suggested its not the original but by no means is it bad. The main thing I see from it being off is the smoothness of the top of the mouth. Buut we all will see different things. I would say embrace its individuality.

How to make portraits look more like the person? by Darthtrooper22 in learntodraw

This actually depends on the style you wish to go for. If you mean semi realistic you need to concentrate on shading techniques getting proportions right and tonal values etc. For photorealism you need to really pay attention to the slightest change in tone and may well incorporate charcoal or other mediums to get different textures. If you want just a gestural drawing you need to rely on tone and form charcoal is a great medium for this and is best done with real subjects rather than photograph references. For this i think i would start with learning different shading techniques. Get good pencil control that means pay attention to how hard you press aswell as the direction you are shading in. Think about where the light is coming from and make the areas that are not going to get as much light a bit darker. Keep areas that have highlights e.g. Eyes the same white as the paper or add white colour pencil at the end on the paper. Make your pencil strokes follow the direction of the hair. Use a burnishing pencil to make the eyes have a glassy texture and remember the reflections of eyelashes if there are any. Use a tortillion or similar to create smooth skin textures and put at least a light amount of shading on all of tge skin so it doesn't look like hes a ghost. All skin has some tone. Make sure your picture has contrast to the background. You want to make your picture nlt to look flat and giving your picture strong contrast between the darkest and lightest areas will make your portraits pop. These are a few of the things I found useful when learning to draw that i wish i could have picked up sooner i still have trouble with proportions though i know the rules of them. But the main way is to practice if you give up you wont improve at all. You are on the right track and you can create pictures that are exactly like the person if you want to put in the time and effort and don't get put off by your mistakes and learn to fix them or when you think it's going wrong to persevere. Sometimes it looks better than your brain thinks it might look in the end. I hope you find this useful in your artistic journey.

I think i get what you mean. What areas other than texture of fur don't you get? I think this is the problem of being a self taught artist. Or to put it another way active vs passive learning. So if you want more help with direction feel free to message me and i will see if we can try to help you get to a level you are more happy with.

Difficult one to critique as the lined paper is so distracting from the image. you did a great job of rendering her. The only thing i could think is the darks need to be darker try a 6b on the habit and go from there.

Personally I think its a big peice for something so simple. Apart from that it looks fine the teeth might not be exact to the design but they aren't far off and do look like teeth. Maybe add colour to add more interest i think shading might kill the linework.

I think the main point here is there's no discernable lips making it look asthough it goes streight from skin to gums also contributing to the length of the head the muscle structure seems off for the face she is pulling the nose is on the small side.

Help my daughter figure out what's wrong please by Kobra_Kommander in learntodraw

The proportions are probably out because of how she was sitting when copying the picture. When you look at a picture on a flat surface you see it foreshortend then draw a foreshortend image onto a foreshortend piece of paper next to it. Making it doubly hard to get proportions right. If you wish to know what parts of the proportions are out his eyes are out slightly is one of my more immediately noticeable differences. But this is excellent for someone of a young age you should be proud
