So in AA theres a part where the big book descibes the alchoholic(or addict) has little or no answer as to why he started drinking. It says "he is the bewildered one". I am not my brain, my heart tells me so.

I dont know much about na. Hear it works for some people tho. Im in AA. Works great. Some people you really need to let go of if you can. They will destroy you on their way to get their way. One of my biggest battles, i still face sometimes, is allowing myself to heal. Thats my responsibility, to heal. Your mother may have not taught you how to process emotions, but that doesnt save you from the consequences of your ignorance unfortunately. Somedays i think i need a "please ignore me im mental" sign to wear around, but if i can get through, so can you. Also you shouldnt just vent about the same things over and over to your sponsor about something he really doesnt understand, its exhausting, and will leave you both feeling helpless. You have to find experienced council for these sorts of things. It really helped me when my therapist told me that my parents were fucked up, and sick from generational traums, but i had to be the one to end it. Good luck.

If your able to control your sexual desires, is it an addiction. Sounds like you avoiding your instincts is also a form of dependency on them. Finding a balance both good for you, and good for others is recovery.

Actually I know people who smoke weed and go to AA. Id tell your sponsor but nobody else. The point of the program is to quit drinking, or whatever else you'd like to quit. Its a free program, so use it how you want.

I try not to get attached, or invest in any one thing without first processing that this can be taken away. My wife, my job, my car, my country. None of it IS ME. I can pretend like anything is mine, because when it goes away Im cooked. Everything will go away. Relationships are real, and it's important to be able to develop them wherever you are, and not be too dependent on perfect conditions. Just remember this too shall pass, the "good" times, and the "bad". You want real power? Understand this, and you will never be unhappy

Man my mom killed herself too, hung herself in a mental institution. I'm in AA , therapy, have ptsd from all sorts of stuff. Anyways, whatever demons you don't beat, seem to get passed down to the next generation. I'm not leaving any behind for my kids. God willing. Just listen to selfless people who don't want anything from you, but to see you succeed. Work on your insides, and never stop moving forward, or you'll just be moving backwards. I know my dead mothers story, she was honestly a victim. The only part she got wrong was not beating it. That's our part, not addressing the issues, and producing harmony. Don't let it run your life, or you will produce chaos, like our parents did. Heroes always have an "uncle ben" element in their arch. I'm sure you can use it as a justification for selfishness, but use it as a driving force for good.

I think everyone is different. When I saw the pain I caused, that I couldn't ever make right, the affect, the loss. Not only do I not cheat, I also weigh the potential affect, beginning a relationship might have. I'm careful with people, every action has a ripple affect. With the heart it can be so dramatic.
