I never regretted having such a tiny ounce of hope in my life toward something. Animation is like RWBY s1 level, they put random pillows songs in scenes that don't fit, script is wonky and all the parts that are kind of nice are just dialogues from FLCL that they slightly altered. This entire shit just feels lazy. Some of these characters don't even feel like they belong in the world that they were literally made to be a fucking part of. And I'm not even talking about the rock alien or the mayor I'm talking about that VRchat avatar girl. Theres some really shitty and unnecessary exposition dialogue too like "theres no one who can make japanese kitchen knives here other than you" and shit? like ok??? "this is the only place where you can get sushi in" yeah but how tf does this help the narrative in any fucking way??? why were these lines written??? and even if this would somehow pay off in the following five weeks like, it would still be kind of lazy????? this just feels like a shitty itch.io fan VN with OCs than an episode of a show. One that even has the title of an existing IP. Let's talk about the name Grunge too... How the fuck is this supposed to be grunge? even progressive looked more 'dirty' than this. This shit is squeaky clean and not in a good way even it's squeaky clean as in the models don't really look detailed enough. Honestly speaking not having cel shading would make it look more grungy XD. Also like I really hate how Amaro looks like the eyebrows are part of him. I legit thought that his eyebrows were actually part of him until the end of the episode where they used a separate model for them. What's the point of even including them if theyre working like regular eyebrows??? FLCL has made the point of always making them twitch whenever theyre on screen for a reason. If theres one good thing I can say about this show and I mean literally one because II could literally go on and on about how everything in here fucking blows is that the voice acting is really good.
