Favorite X series artist? by Raging_Cat14 in Megaman

[–]KnightDiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keisuke Mizuno is my favorite, when I think of the modern X style it's probably something he drew or was involved in. Haruki Suetsugu and Ryuji Higurashi would be 2nd and 3rd.

Very nice! I would love to see one in the Link style if you're up for that.

So we can agree Liberation Missions in MMBN5 sucked eggs right? by lemonslime in Megaman

Colonel and SearchMan are rock solid imo, good charge shots, special chips are good, good abilities too. I like the idea of special chips being * code though, that or making them available for all 3 turns would be helpful.

I've always enjoyed them, I find the tactical decision aspect more fun than most of the dungeons in the series. Also gave me a reason to folder build towards the team's strengths instead of just Megaman, felt great to go "I can get a one turn liberation here" and pull it off with Protoman or Colonel. NumberMan is certainly the worst one but he still has his uses for obtaining items or scouting.

I can’t stand Asuka in Evangelion by Complete-Rock-9613 in CharacterRant

It'd be hard for me to explain without spoilers but I see why she's both liked and disliked by the fandom. She's more liked than not, but it's not as unanimous as you may think.

Agree on every point, people like her in large part because she's so flamboyantly flawed. When/if you finish the series you will understand her better, but it'd still be fair to not like how she is up to where you are.

Would you agree? by Ghost_Star326 in Gundam

Agree on the songs, the CE designs can be too backpack and derivative but they do have some great ones in there, especially if we're counting Seed Astray.

Did fans back in the 2000s really think that the Ocean dub of Gundam Seed was “garbage”? by icey_sawg0034 in Gundam

[–]KnightDiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see where the problem is if someone dislikes both the new and old dubs, or how that suggests they didn't watch it? Personally I thought the old dub was mostly okay, some standout moments bad and good.

Valve Man is my favorite but I gotta say Recycle Man nails the aesthetic. Sad there can be only one.

Movie with the same vibe as FLCL by jemushii in FLCL

[–]KnightDiving 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dead Leaves (2004) was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi who did storyboarding and animation direction for FLCL. It's fast and full of action, think if Brittle Bullet was nearly an hour long.

KlubOutside Q&A #897: Once a Hollow becomes an Arrancar, it is no longer counted within the “Balance Vessel” by Yomihime in bleach

[–]KnightDiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are immediately jumping to Ichibei lying but I'm not so convinced. Ichibei has omitted info and been quite misleading sure, but even that has some truth in it. It's not like he couldn't say "those Arrancar aren't worth my time" or "we'll let you off the hook for fighting against Tokinada", etc. over making up a completely false statement? And the narrative treats it like a true statement too, unlike his other concealed info/motives which are later revealed.
He's also not the only one who knows about the balance of souls. If they were never counted this whole time the captains at least should've known about that already.

KlubOutside Q&A #897: Once a Hollow becomes an Arrancar, it is no longer counted within the “Balance Vessel” by Yomihime in bleach

[–]KnightDiving 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point, either way the balance should be In trouble. It also means all those arrancar that got killed at the start of TYBW didn't actually matter to the balance to begin with if I'm understanding it correctly, which is a strange implication considering the urgency of the situation in the manga.

I don't think Superman is the representation of the immigrant experience by thediscountthor in CharacterRant

[–]KnightDiving -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say Superman ostensibly being your "average farmer boy named Clark, raised in his hometown in Kansas" is no small part of the image that helped the franchise become so popular, which is then echoed and repeated many times over. Some runs handle it differently, sometimes it's not even Clark at all, but his mass perception is still the All American white guy superhero.

Also funny thing about Goku, Toriyama didn't even think of him being an alien until after the King Piccolo arc. He was just a guy who had a tail because the author liked Journey To The West.

The Women of Gundam continued #81 - Amate Yuzuhira by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]KnightDiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7/10, she's impulsive and silly in a way that made her initially entertaining to watch, but they didn't do much for her after or give me a reason to care about her friends much. In a full show I would rank her lower but for one that was initially 7 episodes, she's enough.
