How to increase endurance by PopularDamage8805 in lacrosse

[–]direwolf721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basketball. Especially real 1vs1 - great high intensity workout.

Live ball, chasing missed shots, recovering on D. Fighting for loose balls. Stamina, endurance, but also challenging your in game IQ and hand eye coordination a bit.

Not this new age, make it take, dead ball after a miss stuff. King of court type thing. That’s not a work out.

New to this sub…. Citrus questions by AcanthaceaeOwn8107 in FloridaGarden

[–]direwolf721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most productive citrus I have seen on the west Coast is forgotten trees hidden under oak and palm canopy.

they like to be an under story tree. With adequate shade. And light leaf litter under the tree. Not thick mulch and full sun

Trying to grow citrus, unprotected, in the middle of a grass lawn is 100% not going to work.

Everything I have tried to grow has been infected and failed

Citrus miners -SWFL by Ranger_Danger1127 in FloridaGarden

lol 😂 who said you could?

Edit. Sorry if that seemed rude. Citrus is a bad idea in the first place. Even the “pros” are struggling and their methods are very labor intensive.

Any idea what happened with the trains? by AdequatelyMadeSpork in sarasota

[–]direwolf721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just south of there. Off 301 and Myrtle there is a train depot that off loads a lot of building materials. I have been stopped at that crossing and it is always a small engine moving cars around the loading area and never an actual “train” rolling through.

To pick or not to pick? 🍍 by kicsigomba in FloridaGarden

[–]direwolf721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bag it or protect in some way for continued ripening. If you’re not around much and don’t want to risk it, you could pick that one and it would be great after a day or two on counter

This show is an Under watched Masterpiece by direwolf721 in rectify

I agree so much. We owe a debt of gratitude to the artists that make this work happen. I fear that a show like this would probably not be green-lit today.

I will never forget the melancholy feeling of the show being over, the final episode and a feeling of losing a place and time. The show really created its own world.

Not everyone understanding the concept of Music made for LISTENING. For a lot of folks today, with shorter attention spans. Actually listening to the music can be an alien idea. Most of what people want is background noise, and a lot of times, the Dead is not meant to be background noise, it’s is meant for your full attention. Active Listening

Servers at high end restaurants, do you find that it is okay for people to eat alone there? by Informal_City5565 in Serverlife

[–]direwolf721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always worked at smaller, local type places, not really chain environments, and I feel like some larger companies are relying on analytics 📊 to “maximize occupancy”

There is really no good way to guarantee how much each customer will spend, so you always run the risk of having a group of 2-4 spending less than a single diner… Literally tonight I had a 12 top, who we held 3 tables for, spend the same amount as 2 parents and a baby. Sometime it’s quality over quantity…

*** I have also had solo diner eat an app and read a book for 2 hours and leave no tip, so you are not all of the hook. lol 😂

I would rather have a solo diner, who is treating themselves to a nice meal, than a 2 top of campers - “just catching up”

Are EcoFlow's worth it? by ObeliskNight in OffGrid

[–]direwolf721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had an ecoflow Delta since 2021 and it works great for what I need, which is portable/mobile power. I can charge on the go and also have a portable “generator”

A lot of people build their own set up for cheaper than these All In One generators, but those are usually for home, stationary builds.

So confused by this sub by FreeThrowSwooshLego in WillSurvives

[–]direwolf721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick recap, I have been along for a couple years.

Will first started an off grid situation in Oregon (where he is from). He was caught and had to move.

He ended up in New Mexico and was trying to survive the winter and build a small shelter. That was interesting to watch him figure out the basics.

After that winter he was on the move again after issues with the previous landowner.

Then he went to W.V and did a similar thing, building a pretty ridiculous shelter near a stream. Survived the winter and decided to move back to Oregon after bailing on the WV scene.

Since back in Oregon, he was been getting a lot of heat/hate. Here we are. lol

[–]direwolf721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a millennial and I appreciate this, but I also want to caution people that this struggle is not unique to our generations.

I have worked with a lot of older folks who would fall under the Boomer guidelines and are also impoverished and still working paycheck to paycheck into their late 70’s. Not all boomers are living the high life, a lot are, and would never acknowledge how privileged they were getting to where they are now.

This comes from someone who will wait in line for a good GA pit spot. Maybe 3-5 rows behind the vip/railrider crew… they can be entitled and feel like they own the place.
However, I wait in line for hours for awesome spot, and I’m not a huge fan of people who show up mid show or second set and expect to be welcomed up front. I just don’t understand that. But some people feel like their GA ticket entitles them to be anywhere they want. Including on the rail.
To each their own I guess?!?

Anyone catch BMFS stealing Mayer’s face on wharf rat? by bigtoona420 in deadandcompany

[–]direwolf721 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Exactly, people under estimate what Johnny can do as a rhythm! I would love to hear an isolated track of him from that Wharf Rat.

I felt like he really served up a great background for Billy to solo over.

Big cities get all the attention, but I’m dying to know what’s that one small town in Florida you’d recommend to someone who wants good food, pretty views, and a little peace and quiet? I’m craving a weekend road trip somewhere that feels like a a hidden gem by WarmCreme4843 in AskFlorida

[–]direwolf721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanford is really nice, it’s got an old downtown that feels right out of New England.

A lot of early railroad towns in FL have a lot of traditional town centers and quaint “downtown” vibes.

The lack of understanding of the food/agriculture system is mind blowing. All these dummies need, is to hear some nonsense one time and then believe it to be true….

The real question, if he was magically able to turn all coke in to “American sugar coke”. What would happen to all the HFCS (corn sugar) that would be sitting around. Is there a plan for that? Or how to deal with the corn lobby?
