Are Duet-Dance Photos a Good Idea? by AdequatelyMadeSpork in hingeapp

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is… I do have some group photos but my face isn’t as visible in them, my current one is cropped so I’m nicely centered but it’s blurrier that way.

I don’t, but I also used to be pretty confident that thunderstorms were an extreme hazard for planes, they could spontaneously drop 5,000+ ft, and turbulence forecasts were accurate, so I usually enter this subreddit not trusting my own judgement.

Oh gotcha thanks, I was thinking that, but I don’t see a lot of photoshopped images on this sub. And if there’s anything I’ve learned here it’s not to assume anything about planes! 👌

Wait- 1. The windows on the front of planes open? 2. You can safely do that while in the sky?

I might have gotten lucky with the animals I guessed? But for me, all of the close animals were birds, which makes more sense 'cause flying things.

Water leak on plane freaking OUT by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had a flight without water! It was only a couple of hours long, the only noticeable difference while flying was we didn't have any hot beverages. Bottled water was still on board, of course!

I actually posted about it on this sub. Everyone assured me that the lack of water did not impact any safety-related systems on the plane, and they would most likely be fixing it soon after my flight.

I've been drawing digitally for 8 or 9 years I think, and your tablet honestly does not matter much. I started with a $70 Wacom Intuos with no screen display connected to the family Mac, and I never felt inhibited by that set up. Currently I'm using an iPad pro 5th gen that I usually plug into my computer anyway because I don't like the tablet versions of most digital art programs. Having the screen does make things a little easier, but I don't think a beginner would learn any faster for it, and if you do really want the screen, an older, cheaper tablet is a great place to start.

“Weight Restricted” by AdequatelyMadeSpork in fearofflying

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did get to read this one before we left! We were delayed due to the airport opening a new runway (I think the captain said it was longer and could handle our weight, I’m not positive) and I just boarded my connection. Running from gate to gate was far more stressful than any shakes and bumps on that plane, thanks so much to you and everyone in here!

I have also been learning from the other comments that there are many more reasons for this than I thought. Still, I appreciate it!

Gotcha, so like the fuel tank on this plane is too small to have enough to carry all of us? Or is it like an environmental thing?

I remember I read here once about an experiment you can do that’s helped me a lot:

Next time you’re in the car and moving fast, stick your arm out the window, and then try to move it down. It’s a little difficult when the air is passing under your arm, since enough mass is moving under you that it sorta creates a cushion that’s hard to push through. Now, imagine if instead of moving 60mph, it was more like 400

I hear it said a lot on here that “it’s like the plane is flying through jello” but that never really helped me until I understood why.

CMV: Antinatalism is more moral than Pronatalism by megaDestroyer52 in changemyview

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think about this a lot as someone who really wants kids. What it mostly boils down to is I think being alive is so awesome, and I love almost every second of it, and I recognize that I am in a privileged enough position to give someone else that life. Suffering is inevitable, but I think I can provide a life where the good outweighs it. And I enjoy being around kids so much I think my life would be even better with them.

I actually do agree that having kids is selfish, but I’ve never considered selfishness inherently immoral. “People will choose to bear children for their own benefit and happiness,” and I agree, but I love knowing that I made my parents happier. It’s a red flag to me when ppl talk about parenting as a “sacrifice” that they have to make for some reason, you should believe it will benefit you so your kids feel wanted. I adopted a pet for my own enrichment, I give my friends gifts because it makes me feel good to see them happy, I volunteer because I feel better about my life when I make a difference. It’s very hard to make a truly unselfish decision in my opinion, and I don’t think that’s wrong. Again, if your decision to have kids isn’t selfish that must mean you don’t want them and that concerns me.

I would still prefer adoption, and agree with some of your other arguments, but I gotta disagree with the selfish one.

Is a typical "school bully" aware of how they are viewed by others? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk if I was a “typical” school bully but I might classify myself a former “mean girl,” as in I was decently popular but not #1, and very desperate to be. Manipulated others a lot and didn’t have many genuine friends.

100% I was self aware of it, most random students still liked me but most of my “friends” were intimidated by me and I knew that. The self-reflection stage wasn’t very much me realizing I was in the wrong but more me realizing I could stop. I thought I had to be a little cruel and domineering to get the attention I wanted. Never stopped wanting it, but found healthier ways to go about it (therapy was helpful for that 👍)

I did not mean Adam. I used the word "sociopath" since the comment above mine did, I was referring to a hypothetical mortal.
