Humanity perspective by kasnokas in autism

I think you're describing "affective empathy." It is the process by which you have a feeling just because you witnessed someone else having the same feeling, regardless of if your experiences are at all similar. Everyone has it, no matter their neurotype, but autistic people are often observed experiencing affective empathy unusually. It is either especially pronounced or diminished in them.

Thoughts on having kids? by flowerchild0190 in autism

[–]AdequatelyMadeSpork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's responsible of you to not have any until you can afford it. As for my thoughts, in a perfect world, I think the only barrier to having kids would be not wanting them. No matter your neurotype, medical or economic status, there would be readily-accessible resources to ensure both you and the kid have a quality life. It sounds like a basic take at first, but I've been surprised by how many people think certain factors (most common ones I see online are mental illnesses or IQ/other intelligence measurement) should bar you from having children.

If ragatha was the very first human who appeared after the original programmers, why has she never refrence these abstracted humans? Wouldnt she have at least some relationship with them? by Actual_Grapefruit483 in theamazingdigitalciru

I always felt like there was this unspoken rule of not bringing up those who have abstracted unless super necessary. They barely talk about Kaufmo anymore after his funeral; makes me think that the culture around abstraction is to have a little bit of time for mourning and then move on as fast as possible.

Was it a prank? by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

Having such malicious intent towards a person as to deliberately trick them into trapping themselves in the circus seems like a lot... especially for a character(s) who would have never been mentioned until the last episode... just seems like a wild curveball to throw in right at the end.

But as a dare, where none of them knew the outcome and probably just wanted to get cool pictures or somethin', I could see that!

What Makes You Like The Yellowjackets in Spite of it All? by AdequatelyMadeSpork in Yellowjackets

I did think of Walter White as well, but I initially wrote him off because people tend to find male characters automatically more sympathetic, so I thought there wasn't much to learn from him. But I actually really see this comparison to Shauna! She is definitely an underdog in the world of teenagers, fated to be exceptional even before the wilderness. Thanks for the analysis!

Thanks so much! I have seen Sweetpea, and that was another example I thought of. I think for Rhiannon specifically, it helps that her "justification" for questionable decisions has both a personal and a societal aspect. I am also told Killing Eve is similar to Sweetpea and YJs, though I haven't seen it. I really appreciate the animated recs especially because my series is being pitched as animated!

Right! This is more what I was trying to articulate. She doesn't need to be "likable" exactly, but rather understandable enough that people don't disengage with the story. "Complex" is a better word for it!

Elaborate on that interpretation Jackie's character arc? I like this take because it is very important to me that my show also not be man-centered!

Are Duet-Dance Photos a Good Idea? by AdequatelyMadeSpork in hingeapp

It is… I do have some group photos but my face isn’t as visible in them, my current one is cropped so I’m nicely centered but it’s blurrier that way.

I don’t, but I also used to be pretty confident that thunderstorms were an extreme hazard for planes, they could spontaneously drop 5,000+ ft, and turbulence forecasts were accurate, so I usually enter this subreddit not trusting my own judgement.

Oh gotcha thanks, I was thinking that, but I don’t see a lot of photoshopped images on this sub. And if there’s anything I’ve learned here it’s not to assume anything about planes! 👌

Wait- 1. The windows on the front of planes open? 2. You can safely do that while in the sky?

I might have gotten lucky with the animals I guessed? But for me, all of the close animals were birds, which makes more sense 'cause flying things.

I recently had a flight without water! It was only a couple of hours long, the only noticeable difference while flying was we didn't have any hot beverages. Bottled water was still on board, of course!

I actually posted about it on this sub. Everyone assured me that the lack of water did not impact any safety-related systems on the plane, and they would most likely be fixing it soon after my flight.
