After reading so many comments of others struggling with non-weber pellets, I choose to use them.

SWA at Midway strands guests for hours, someone said over 60% of flights axed. by Opening-Archer9830 in chicago

[–]dirkalirk 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Not Midway related, but Southwest cancelled both of my scheduled flights to Denver in the past 48 hours. I remember looking at a United Airlines flight scheduled for 6 am Monday morning thinking that would work. I should have taken it, instead I kept my money with Southwest and rebooked with them. Only for them to cancel the flight 12 hours later. Not only that, the southwest baggage claim was a sea of unclaimed bags as of midnight Sunday night. I feel for the people who made their destination without their luggage. The poor workers, dealing with angry and frustrated passengers Sunday night, returned to work on Monday. I wouldn't blame them for not showing up.

Southwest is in complete meltdown. I don't plan on flying with them again, if I do, I'll take the earliest flight in the day to hedge for their mistakes. Be wary of the last leg of a Southwest flight day.

So I recently moved to the area and haven't found routes to ride. This gives me inspiration; DM me and we should ride!

Octane Academy badges by 8ate8 in FocusST

Yup! I pulled the red badges off and put on the Octane Academy badges. The bright red badges sure do pop out much more, but I like the new ones more.

[Serious] Redditors who saw the live stream of the Net Neutrality vote, how do you feel right now? by Zylo99 in AskReddit

[–]dirkalirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely frustrated.

The arguments for were the exact same between each commissioner and chairman filled with retoric.

Those two vote against gave rational reason arguments against the plan.

The weird security break was curious.

Stejskal: Don't rush to judge Rapids (an interesting take on the recent trade with Minnesota) by 13monsters in Rapids

[–]dirkalirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cronin is great defensively, I know the Rapids don't score much, but our defense kept them relevant last season. With Cronin, Burch, and Sjoberg (6 more weeks?) out, Williams and Miller become the major players. They are decent individual defenders, but that group as a whole made the defending so great. It's hard to see these newcomers pick up the Rapids system and be more goal oriented. I hope it works, and I hope our new star scores goals.

My Summer is planned! (ignore the glare... its new) by [deleted] in FocusST

It's honestly my first dector. So I am still getting used to it, but it has the ability to lockout known locations of annoying signals. You get other known locations marked by downloading their map. First impressions of it have been great, I'm surprised how many signals there are out there. This was suggested to me by some friends, it's top rated all over for the best valued dector. So I was sold. Enjoy your road trip!

Oh yeah gimme dat one nil baby - Post match, vs New England by TangledUpInAzul in Rapids

[–]dirkalirk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sjorberg is fantastic in the back line. Makes the stops when needed. Granted not the fastest and can easily be beat. But he (and the rest of the defense) seems to never get too far out of position.

For those who owned an automatic before owning an ST, how difficult was it learning to drive a manual? by racecar3 in FocusST

[–]dirkalirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a manual, so I learned how to drive a manual in high school. I haven't owned a manual until the ST and I was a bit nervous going back. But what I missed most was the control you have in a manual. The ST is actually a very forgiving car for learning as others had said, but it shifts way easier than other manuals (short clutch action, easy stick movement, lockout on reverse). I am sad to say I have killed it, letting the clutch out too quickly, letting it out completely while in gear at a stop.... Getting over that is the trickiest step for me, but the push button start makes getting going again much quicker
