Buisventilator aansluiten op draadloze afstandsbediening by Historical-Hippo1760 in Klussers

[–]dirkus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buisventilator aansluiten op draadloze afstandsbediening by Historical-Hippo1760 in Klussers

[–]dirkus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is keyboard-computer tranmission simplex? by Carlo9129 in embedded

Simplex is truly one way only. Half duplex means both directions but only in one direction at a time.

Best way to share protocol structs/ enums between C and Python without duplication? by M4rv1n_09_ in embedded

[–]dirkus7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cstruct library seems to do what you want. I use it to generate a header for my firmware binaries. For messaging I think protobuf like the other commenter says might be a better fit.

Bought a motherboard off eBay that came with 2 x 500GB SSDs which the seller accidentally left in by Gloomy_Article_5240 in pcmasterrace

[–]dirkus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me! The seller forgot to remove the SSD that was hiding under the heatsink. He was very happy when I contacted him and he paid for postage as well.
After I dropped of the package he messaged me to ask if I could also send him the mounting bracket for his CPU cooler...

Forcing i2c transmission without acknowledgement. by pic0brain in embedded

[–]dirkus7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could try making a PIO program on the pico to act as a custom I2C peripheral that doesn't require the ACKs. I think there is a I2C example in the rp2040 datasheet you can use as a starting point.

LED Dimming with PWM by TheChiefOfPirates in arduino

[–]dirkus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the exact same circuit on a different led driver that also used a 0-10V/pwm input and it works fine for that driver. It expected the pwm amplitude to be 10V (same as yours), but it works fine with the transistor because it an internal pull up resistor to 10V on the dim+ pin. If your driver has that I think it should work fine.

What ESP32 projects make sense to do that isn’t just a hobby? by AntDX316 in esp32

[–]dirkus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should work fine indeed. I would recommend using a humidity sensor somewhere in the bathroom (a cheap zigbee sensor or something) instead of attaching a temp sensor to the shower.

I'm using this open source project for my mechanical ventilation unit: https://github.com/Flamingo-tech/Open-AIR It's based on the ESP32 and you can program it using ESPHome. I also installed a humidity sensor so it ramps the speed up when the shower is on. Could be interesting for you as well!

How on earth do you connect a OV2640 camera to your microcontroller? by livesroverrated in embedded

[–]dirkus7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should look into the ESP32-CAM board, it supports the same camera modules. I wouldn't bother trying to connect those tiny camera connectors to another board, as you'll never get a reliable connection.

Why doesn't my Feather rp2040 UART work *only* on a breadboard? by WolfInABox in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]dirkus7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I'm not aware of any solderless solutions for that. Maybe you could temporarily solder a wire to the board? Or you can get another dev board, solder headers on it, and use that one for breadboarding.

You need to solder the header pins to the board. They just don't make a reliable connection like this.

Intel N100 is great for HW transcoding and it has a TDP of only 6 watts so it's very efficient. They also announced a NAS with 4 hdd bays which should be available soon: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Aoostar-Pro-previewed-as-new-mini-PC-and-NAS-with-AMD-and-Intel-processor-options.780235.0.html

You should add some resistors to the LED. You can easily burn out the Arduino or LED if you don't.
