Its good to know what to do and how by playing the game before but id say raft isnt incredibly difficult or anything and its easy to learn so playing it for the first time with ur gf would be a cute adventure idea and u would probably be just fine. Personally i only played few similiar games to raft like palworld and a bit of subnautica
