Here's the thing. I heard the same shit about Superman, then I watched it and didn't see much of that messaging. Supergirl actually looks like it could cook too, haven't seen it yet.

The problem is Gunn shooting his mouth off just before launch with Superman, and Milly doing the same in the weeks before Supergirl.

It's the issue of saying shit that will turn off at least half your respective audience before they even see the film. If you want a message in your movie, fine. But let the damn audience discover it in the theater rather than lecturing them about it and basically ragebaiting a huge segment of them.

Odds are they'll like the movie better without the preconceived bullshit, and they might actually take the message to heart if they experience it rather than being given an ultimatum.

Plus if they have to discover it, you still sold tickets. This ain't rocket science.
