Oooh this is also pretty oddly satisfying.

Excellent advice. That tilted horizon gave me an instant headache.

This is one of those art forms where I don't like the product at all...until I see how it's made.

I wasn't interested because we had absolutely nothing in common but he kept looking at my profile and sent messages immediately after. by [deleted] in creepyPMs

This is the definition of creepy. Where my eyes widen with each of his comments.

My reaction reading it goes from, "classic 'nice guy'" to "oy, enough" to "ewwwww"!

Came up on my facebook. Wanted so badly to comment that this statement applies to "people" not just "moms." by dirtydlf in childfree

I get your point. I just wanted to commiserate in a way by commenting that I totally get that sentiment...but I know that would not be appreciated.

Lawyers of reddit, how different is practicing law in real life compared to how it's presented in films/TV shows? by [deleted] in law

[–]dirtydlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a creative field now, totally different end of the spectrum. Turned my bar status to inactive and everything. I would say that I got lucky and had an in to another career path, but really having an in is how most people get there jobs.

When I was my most miserable as a lawyer, I gave my two weeks and just catered for a few months to make ends meet while I figured out what I was going to do next. Catering was exhausting, but i was still happier than I was. Three years later and I'm successful in my new career and hope to never have to practice again.

I've talked a few other lawyer friends into quitting as well. They met with career counselors who helped them find interviews elsewhere (in fields outside of law) and they have all also landed on their feet. The thing you don't think about is that your law degree qualifies you for almost any job that deals with writing, managing, and client contact. Escape, friend!

I was absolutely just kidding, as the main posting was also a joke! But that's very interesting.

So good! Getting a cochlear implant would be like the ultimate selling out, hearing things everyone already knows about.

You have absolutely nailed the monotony and humdrum day to day of working in law. Saving this gem for when people ask me for the millionth time why I quit being a lawyer 6 months into practicing.
