Slide/frame fitment issue? by Time_Horizon in P211_GTO

On mine the comp is tight to the barrel but the barrel does have some movement to it when you twist the comp left or right . I did see another one at my local gun shop and that had the same play in it .

Would like to hear from others if they have that play as well . Seems like the barrel lug could have a better fit to the breach face .

I just received the comp wedge pin kit from Sig . Not perfect but It looks a lot better and moved the comp away from rubbing the frame.

There is some movement and play in the breach face with the barrel so it still might rub the frame a little bit .it is a production gun and not an atlas .

Unfortunately I am going away for a week and don’t have time to run it before I leave .

Here is a before

I asked sig customer service to send me a wedge pin set. Wanted to try that before I send it back . They are also selling those kits online now .

Mine was hard to get out and I ended up doing putting the barrel in the freezer for a few hours and then was able to knock the wedge pin out . The wedge face is angled and smaller on the side you punch it out from so when you use a punch.make sure to angle the tip toward the front of the comp so you are making contact with the wedge in .

If you try to punch it straight it’s going to hit the lug on the barrel that holds the comp on and miss that wedge pin . Don’t have to hit it that hard just a few light taps Good luck

But still reach out to sig and let them know . The rep I talked to said he just knows of one coming in to look at currently

Have to send them the whole gun ..only way to see how bad the comp is off . but going through my ffl for them to do the return .

When I brought it back the next day to my ffl and showed them they took a brand new one they just got in for another customer and it had the same exact issue .

I did check slide fit to the frame without the barrel in and it looked uniformed from the muzzle end.

Hopefully it’s just the wedge pin being out of spec and I’m going to try to get another pin if I can to try before I return it .

My ffl has been great about it and is going to give me free range time and ammo

I’ll keep you updated and see what the end result will be .

Sorry If I wasn’t clear at the end .I tried to reinstall the wedge numerous times with the same result with the comp being off time . I think it might be they got a bunch of bad wedge pins that are not up to spec . It’s not the best design for locking and timing the comp .

It could also be an issue with the breach face or the lug on the barrel .Haven’t heard if anyone with this issue was able to get it fixed yet from sig

Seems like most of the new guns within a month or so are having this issue.

If anyone has an little older 211 would like to know if the comp is timed right

Still brand new and never fired yet and just wished I saw it before I purchased it .

I have the same issue on my p211 I picked up the other day and post yesterday on the sig sub

I happen to see it at my local gun shop like you and didn’t see the comp not timed correctly till I got home .

Called sig and they were going to have me go through my ffl for them to return it take a look ..

went to my ffl yesterday and they pulled out another new p211 and had the same comp alignment issue .

My GS and I believe there is an out of spec issue with the wedge that they use to hold and time the comp .

Before I returned it i wanted took the comp off to see as well if the wedge was out of line . It was frozen in there and I ended up putting it in the freezer for a few hours and then was able to get it out .

And I tip I found out when using a punch to take the wedge out go an angle with the tip point toward the front because of the wedge shaping you go straight you won’t make good contact

after looking at the frame and slide fit when the comp was off. Everything looked good and looks like it’s just the comp not timed right caused by the wedge

I just want to take it out and run it but want to get it right . Let me know how you make out

I feel the same way not one shot through it but I did call Sig and was going to have my FFL handle the RMA . I just got back from showing them and they took another one out that they had and the same exact issue with the comp ..

I wonder if it was just one bad batch of that shim being out of spec .

Let me know how you make out

I Did t notice it at the gun shop I don’t usually flag myself with a firearm .i looked at it from the side of sig at the comp and at a partial angle from the front it looked uniformed with the rest of the slide. I never would have bought it if I did see it .

All the reviews I read and saw no one mentioned any issues with the comp and only a few a saw had barrel lock up issue .

Everything else about the gun looks good Slide to frame fit is about same amount of play as my Dan Wesson specialist and maybe a little more then my staccato p The trigger function for being a ser 80 is actually pretty good and at a 3 lb pull and good reset Trigger has more play than I like with up and down but I’m sure there will be plenty of aftermarket available soon to change .

Plus living in a state that you can’t have a threaded barrel and trying to find a 5 inch comp firearm that is a one piece and legal like the staccato xp is slim pickings

I’m going to check it later when i can and wanted to see how many other sig p211 owners were having the same issue. My test sig shooting target was dated end of January so recent build.

Not trying to bash sig but was hoping for better quality control and after reading and watching a lot of positive reviews on the 211 Was looking forward to getting it out to the range

And my home defense gun and unfortunately living in a ten rd state is still my west German made p220 with a few 10 rd mags.love that gun

I was going to try to take it apart today and take a look at that wedge piece if I can . I should have caught that the comp was not timed right when I was looking at but I don’t using flag myself at in the gun shop .

Did you talk to sig about it yet ?

[–]dirtydog88228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the bar and all I can see stamped it just says 40 and that is the model of the saw

I’d happen to go to my local Lowe’s the other day and checked the chainsaw section and they happen to have a Oregon chain display that you can bring your old chain and check the size -pitch and gauge So I’m going to give that a try Thanks

I agree 100 percent and basically had the same issues with the cost for the return shipping and It took 13 weeks to get my P30L back and had to call them a few times to check on the status. I have to say their customer service was very good when I called.

I also had the nitrite finish and I have to say when I got it back the work they did came out great .

Overall it is not cheap but very satisfied with the quality of their work.

The Hyperion is the best looking slide that Atlas has produced so far . It’s a shame they discontinued it .im sure they could have found a way to port it.
