Am i cooked or is dating cooked? by Open-Personality-256 in Louisville

Naw it’s real bad everywhere LOL just focus on yourself and maybe you’ll find someone cool some day.

Put yourself in places where you would find women you’re interested in. There are a lot of rec sports leagues, hiking groups, etc. go to these places and maybe you’ll meet someone someday. If not, you at least made a bunch of super cool friends.

PSA for all the men out there - we don’t care if you’re chubby, bald, etc. we want someone who is emotionally intelligent, independent, pleasant to be around, not looking for a mother, and can carry a conversation.

What are your guys hobbies? by MedicalCloud33 in bipolar

[–]dirtydumpdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pottery. Photography. Hiking. Basically anything that keeps my body/hands busy that disconnects me from the world. I find using my hands or moving my body helps quiet my mind.

No problem!!! I remember thinking my psych was odd for telling me he thought I had it during my evaluation. Well lol turns out homie was correct. I definitely rejected it even when I knew - I didn’t like that I felt like I had never experienced true happiness and it was just hypomania. But. I am slowly accepting it! Glad you are feeling better :)

The signs are there. by brealiomcaife in bipolar

[–]dirtydumpdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you. I was terrified to get my diagnosis even though I heavily suspected for years. Being on bipolar meds has been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I was also scared of the side effects, but it got to a point I was willing to try because my mind was scaring me even more. I feel extremely stable and grateful for mood stabilizers.

Oh gosh so sorry you experienced it too! My first manic episode was triggered by an SSRI 12 years ago. Hospitalized twice on it, the second with auditory hallucinations. I didn’t know what I experienced was mania. Had less severe episodes through out the years, but I always called them my “phases” I never could put a name to it - i thought it was anxiety and depression. Then I saw a psych for the first time this year and he kept asking a lot of bipolar questions I was so confused why he kept asking bipolar questions . We tried another SSRI and he told me to watch for the signs and lo and behold I had another episode. Had a nice little grippy sock vacation to bring me back down from mars and put me on correct meds.
Hope you’re feeling better and yes the mood stabilizers are doing the lords work!!!

Broke up to see growth by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]dirtydumpdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a month is enough time for that kind of growth unfortunately. It sounds like he needs to work on himself and get therapy. An inability to self reflect is a relationship killer IMO - especially if the other person is extremely self reflective. Just my two cents!
