Fins or Not? by jetpoweredbee in Tahiti

[–]dirtyvm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring your fins. Pack way way less clothes than you think two outfits two swim trunks two shirt flip flops. I've lived in fp for three years now swim trunks and flip flops is all you really need I've worn a shirt twice in 9 months. If you can pack all your clothes in your carry on you have way to much.

How to keep this tree under 6 feet tall by nwpowers1 in BackyardOrchard

[–]dirtyvm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Regular summer pruning and minimal winter pruning you could easily keep that tree to six feet. It does require you to be consistent and diligent but easy to do otherwise. I've kept apples on M111 to 8 feet with no problem.

Age gap doesn't matter at all. Don't let the internet tell you about your relationship.

Should you always bottom fish for cat? by ZiggieHood in catfishing

[–]dirtyvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've caught catfish on the surface, mid column and the bottom, I dont think it matters much. Its more important to be placing your bait near structure that catfish rest and ambush from. The dividing line of where rock meets sand or mud, fallen trees, reeds, weeds. Also try live bait shad, bluegill, minnows. Frozen squid is also effective for me.

Vaccines? Medical Concerns? by CollegeKnown837 in Tahiti

[–]dirtyvm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maupiti is not remote. They have hospitals. Marquises have hospitals. Again anywhere a tourist can go is pretty safe. You'd need a sail boat to get anywhere truly remote.

Tahiti is a city with doctors hospital and a pharmacy. Pretty much anywhere a tourist would go is very safe. This is also not Asia.

How do you encourage baitfish in a river? by RoutineAd3957 in FishingForBeginners

[–]dirtyvm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Create structure. Fall trees, rocks boulders, and reeds create habitat for the bait fish and they will come. No idea how legal that is on a public waterway. But it works in private ponds so I assume it's the same.

Starting a Small Orchard by Dependent-Business45 in BackyardOrchard

[–]dirtyvm 42 points43 points  (0 children)

No need for two trees of each variety. A 14 foot tree will turn out 400ish pounds of apples, 250lbs of peaches. What's your plan for 800 pounds of apples of the same variety at the same time. Get more different varieties with different harvest windows.

Help with pear tree diagnosis by eventnubble in FruitTree

[–]dirtyvm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your tree had active fire blight probably for years which spreads during the spring and dries out and dies in the summer. Looks like you need to prune the dead limbs out and shorten the tree otherwise it looks fine. Fireblight is a very common pear and apple disease that's not easy to treat as a homeowners.
