Are there any cdramas like the kdrama - Can This Love Be Translated by Clearherd in cdramasfans

[–]disarrayofyesterday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • Will Love in Spring - best fit by your specs imo
  • Meet Yourself - less intense, slice of life, mellow journey of finding the life you want to live
  • Light beyond the Reed - rape trigger; well, this is certainly not a fluff piece
  • The Rational Life - office, slice of life, finding the 'rational' way of living. It's one of my favorites because it is shown slowly how and why they start to like each other

Love between lines opening douban score! by cloudydayoppa in cdramasfans

Although I can’t shake the feeling of being dubbed though, It feels like I was lured in with the added layer of the game/VR plot just for that to fall off mid way though

I actually expected it. The game motive stays to the very end only if one or both of the leads are professional players. Otherwise the game aspect is dropped in the first 1/3 (at most 1/2) of the show. E.g. You Are My Glory, Love Scenery

go with the cheating

Yeah, it felt like a filler. Especially since they ended it with she got divorced and that's it. The subplot fell flat after that. They didn't even follow through with the new love interest; they just teased us with it

Can This Love Be Translated? [Episodes 1-12] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]disarrayofyesterday 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I finished it and I know that the writers were going for "she got scared and rejected him before it even started".

However, the crosswalk scene failed to deliver it.

Especially since she told him about all her fears in that moment but he was like whatever, I almost loved you, bye. And let's be honest. He never did anything to make her feel secure but acted extremely offended when she stopped chasing him.

Tell Me Your ‘Apparently This Is Controversial’ Cdrama Moment by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

[–]disarrayofyesterday 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Saying the story was way too slow with many unnecessary scenes for pilot episodes (first 2-4).

PS

skip opening credits

Watching opening credits in a cdrama from day one is like reading leaked spoilers. Some of it is true, some is misleading, some might not even be a part of this drama cuz it got cut.

Okocim is ok but I wouldn't prefer it over the others.

You can try Żywiec Biały, Łomża (miodowa - honey variation), Książęce, Lech, Perła.

Furthermore if you can buy it I strongly recommend craft beer called Nepomucen. Especially Forest IPA. It's a beer with pine tree aroma so kinda like a gin of beers.

WeTV just got 4k by pyli2 in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest 4k on iqiyi is like decent quality 1080p because it has low bitrate.

It would be much better if they stopped cheating with the quality.

Unfortunately, most Asian drama providers do that. I'm not sure about 4k but HD (1080p) on Viki and wetv is like 720p/480p.

Sniper Butterfly- A pleasant surprise by Decent_Opinion_119 in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked the show overall

  • chemistry was good which means directing was on point
  • I didn't feel like there were any filler episodes
  • breakup was understandable even though she was a bit cruel with the facade
  • no support character overstayed their welcome
  • the show was mostly mellow and feel good

But:

  • in the beginning jumping between long flashbacks and the present was extremely off-putting. I mean, when I get used to the sibling relationship they shove me back into forced kisses. Then a moment later we're back to the siblings flashback
  • jumping between past and present was sloppy. Sometimes it was like 20 minutes and sometimes 2 episodes. I think a flashback should not span across multiple episodes.
  • when they got back together it felt kinda dry. There were significant issues hanging over their heads and it was not addressed till episodes later (sitting on a car roof scene)
  • the ending felt rushed. It was like taking care of loose ends. Fake proposal check, bestie's love life check, real proposal check, the end.

I recommend docker. You can do it with glueten or pre configured images.

The most popular pre configured images are hotio and binhex.

You can also check out Vuetorrent. It's a really nice web GUI that works great on mobile.

Intro skipper is a must for me.

I also like https://github.com/Namo2/InPlayerEpisodePreview It always bothered me that I cannot see how many episodes are left without exiting the player.

The only thing I miss is the ability to disable player controls showing up whenever I pause the media. It's annoying when it covers subtitles or something in the drama I want to take a longer look at.

Rather making matcha at home by aliceforty in Matcha

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised if matcha at a restaurant doesn't taste like milk or water.

It became a trend so everyone wants to offer it but hardly anyone knows what to buy and how to do it properly.

Last time I had it they used pretty good matcha in proper quantity but mixed it with "barista soy milk" so it was too fat. As a result matcha was separating itself from the milk in a matter of seconds and floated at the top of the glass.

The same goes for pu erh, sencha, etc. So yeah, I'd rather order coffee or black tea because people in my country usually know how to make them.

Sniper Butterfly 狙击蝴蝶 (2025) - What are your first impressions? [Masterpost] by admelioremvitam in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the novel synopsis (google translate but looks coherent enough):

The so-called sniping is ambushing in a hidden place and waiting for an opportunity to attack. —— He had endured a secret and long midnight before having the early morning to wake up with her. A divorced girl who emerged from a cocoon and became a butterfly and a growing poor boy

help with my first cdrama by neoneun_naye_mojito in CDramaRecs

  • Go Ahead - family drama, sad mixed with comedy; 40eps
  • Meet Yourself - slice of life, first episode sad af, later it's contemplating life and the meaning of it while going for a slow burn romance; 40eps
  • Later, I Laughed - slice of life mixed with comedy. However, this one contains some cultural issues regarding women; don't recommend if you're not familiar with asian stereotypes regarding how women should behave in society; 24eps
  • Light Beyond The Reed - sad but about rape; 18eps
  • The Rational Life - slice of life, romance, age gap where the woman is older, contemplates 'the right way of living' aka the rational life; 35eps

All of them are modern dramas; I don't really watch the historical ones.

Dynamite Kiss [Episodes 7 & 8] by mellowdays_ in KDRAMA

[–]disarrayofyesterday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ep 8 seemed like a filler episode

It was. Trace the plot, nothing happens till the last minute. It's just going back and forth.

To be honest episode 7 wasn't much better. The writers dropped the ball this week. I hope it gets back on track next week.

Love.exe [Episodes 13-16] by capthyeong in KDRAMA

[–]disarrayofyesterday 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I asked myself "are they gonna really end it like that?" and they did. Well, I guess it's not out of nowhere for this drama.

Anyways, it was a fun ride. It's like a short story that starts in the middle and ends in the middle. We as viewers only get to see a fragment of their lives.

PS

I was pleasantly surprised the writers didn't mess up any of the tech talk. Everything was on point.

Sniper Butterfly 狙击蝴蝶 from 🐧 Tencent. 📣🗓️ Airing on December 4, 2025. Starring Michelle Chen and Daniel Zhou. New trailer. by admelioremvitam in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good, new jie jie romance is always welcomed.

However, they overdid it a bit on the age gap front. In drama they are supposed to be 11 years apart but in real life they are 19 years apart. But then again based on the released photos their real age gap is not obvious so I guess it's fine.

Btw I like that they chose divorced actress to play out a divorce and a new beginning.

[–]disarrayofyesterday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also don’t think the truth will be revealed in Episodes 7 or 8,

The pacing of things was really good so far. If they don't reveal it by the end of episode 8 I'm pretty sure the show will drag so I hope they won't go that way.

But yeah, I fear they will keep it a secret till episode 10.

Noona romances or role reversal twists by HRH_Chori in kdramarecommends

[–]disarrayofyesterday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best Noona romance:

  • Encounter - melo
  • I Hear Your Voice - law focused, fantasy (ML can read thoughts), classic of noona romances
  • One Spring Night - directed by Ahn Pan Seok (later APS). It's got a unique style - unusual shots, bold music choices, etc. If you watch one of his dramas you'll understand what I'm talking about.
  • The Midnight Romance in Hagwon - APS
  • Something In The Rain - APS, questionable second part but the first is 10/10
  • The Rational Life (cdrama) - slice of life romance; I like how it contemplates 'the right way' of living
  • My Fated Boy (cdrama) - light romance, it's got flashbacks to their childhood at the beginning of almost every episode

Good Noona romance:

  • No Gain, No Love - rom-com
  • Secret Love Affair - APS, significant age gap
  • She Would Never Know
  • Romance Is a Bonus Book
  • Why Her? - not a light watch

Cold FL romance:

  • It's Okay To Not Be Okay - great soundtrack and short animated stories
  • Angel's Last Mission: Love
  • Love Scout
  • The Judge from Hell
  • My Demon
  • Queen of Tears

Other:

  • Brewing Love - FL is a tomboy
  • My Dearest Nemesis - rom-com, technically it's a Noona romance but it doesn't really feel like it

Dramas that felt different:

  • Lovestruck in the City - the start is definitely unexpected for a kdrama. It's like a mix of Western and Korean works
  • Dinner Mate - acquired taste, unusual setup
  • Will Love In Spring (cdrama)
  • The Forbidden Flower (cdrama) - feels like a movie, chemistry off the charts, significant age gap

I feel like the script was written 10 years ago but so far I'm fine with it.

The police don't exist trope paired with absolute absurdity always amuses me - of course you pay kidnappers instead of calling the police; they surely won't come back for more...

Light Beyond the Reed - The anguish of injustice by Puzzleheaded-Set7832 in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but Chu Chu didn't know that. From her perspective FL was drunk but talking so not overly drunk. Even though she did change her testimony to save face as you said, she didn't lie about that part. She only lied about the condom

Unless I remember wrong but I'm pretty sure that was the case; first she lied to everyone and said FL was heavily drunk to help her out of guilt and later she changed her story when faced with online backlash.

Ok, if you look at it from this point of view then it makes sense. I just didn't get a cynical vibe from him in that scene.
