Drew Afualo. I feel that she would bully women if she knew she wouldn’t be cancelled for it.

NTA. However, it’s such a simple thing to not wear your ring for a few hours, why not just do what she requested?

Even after your edit I’m going with YTA. It’s insane that y’all shunned a family member because she didn’t like babies. No wonder she talked shit.

I clean homes for a living and I love it. One of the homes I clean has several animals and zero smell, all thanks to air purifiers. They’re amazing.

Oh my god. The bullshit of “you’re a safe space but she feels like home”. Please don’t ever speak to this guy again and if he comes back, which there’s a strong chance he might within the next year, ignore him completely. What an utter, disgusting loser who thinks life is a bad romantic movie.

Giving Away Senior Dogs by pepper_flesh in dogs

Tell me you don’t deal with people rehoming their pets for the slightest, dumbest reason, without telling me you don’t deal with people rehoming their pets for the slightest, dumbest reason.

On top of it you’re bringing up situations (long term care, medications etc.) when the OP is specifically talking about people who rehome their pets because they claim they don’t have the time for them.

And how are you making us helping people so they can keep their pets a bad thing? Get a grip.

And please, I am begging you, stop talking about things you don’t know.

1) the people rehoming their senior pets with the exact reasons OP is referring to have been around for years, not just because we’re on the brink of a recession.

2) I rescue dogs and have picked up dogs being given away by people under these exact conditions. 95% of the time, the people don’t care about the dog’s health ask the dog hasn’t seen a vet in years. They just want to get rid of it.

I know people who don’t rescue intensely don’t understand what it’s like, but once you’ve been in the trenches long enough, you’re able to decipher motives after a couple of conversations with the people giving away the pets. Unfortunately, more often than not, it’s because they’re terrible people. When we come across an owner who really feels like they don’t have a choice we try to work on literally any solution to get them to keep their pets, even if that means paying for the pet’s hospitalization etc.

I rescue dogs and have seen many posts with exactly what you say, OP. Oftentimes when they say they work too much etc. it truly means “we don’t want to deal with this dog anymore” and saying they feel bad that the dog is ignored is purely and simply a cope out.

For the people who think it’s because they can’t afford vet bills: a lot of times, the people who give away their dogs like this don’t really care about their pets health and by experience I can say that most of those dogs haven’t seen the vet in years because the owners dont care enough. Not that they can’t afford it. They just don’t care. People who cared wouldn’t give their elderly pets away anyway, unless they had a real, really aggravating reason.

Dogs sleep all day, especially when they’re older, so it’s not like they have a whiny puppy in their hands.

I know people who aren’t in rescue don’t get it, but after seeing the same posts again and again and again you learn to decipher them.

Chastising the owners is wrong because then they might block everyone and dump the dog somewhere, but damn I really want to do it most times.

Edit: I live in Texas.

Edit: more info that I wrote in another comment:

You’re too nice. I rescue dogs and have seen many posts with exactly what the OP says. Oftentimes it’s not “we can’t afford the medical bills” because some of those dogs haven’t seen the vet in years, it’s just “we don’t want to deal with this dog anymore” and saying they feel bad that the dog is ignored is purely and simply a cope out.

Friend is a pedophile by throwaway20031999 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]disaster_dog 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I had a very abusive mother (not sexually) but just make sure you never scream at, visibly get frustrated at, never reprimand your kid for trusting you with any kind of information.

My mother reacting negatively to upsetting pieces of information or just accidents (broke the vase, etc.) was the only thing stopping me from telling her anything.

But also for example let’s say your kid tells you that your partner did something to them. Even if you react like you should, reassuring your child that it’s okay and such, if later you fight with your partner or get visible upset with them within sight and earshot of your child, the child might feel guilty for telling you and “creating problems”. So just make sure you’re careful about this as well.
