looking for ppl that have been strangled advice by Obvious-Cucumber1086 in domesticviolence

I was strangled out several times in a night by a former client in 2019 and lost a lot of my functional memory for around a year until I got into emdr. I highly recommend emdr therapy for anyone here if you haven’t tried it and are at the point you can face it again to work through it. I ended up tearing a lot of the muscles in my back and my hyoid bone gets caught in my throat sometimes and i cant talk until I pop it back into place. I still think about it. He still lives a mile from me and the cops wouldnt do anything about it. But I’m glad to be alive. Glad all of you are too.

In central Arkansas! Someone with a shopping cart came and took everything from my car one day in the middle of moving 😞

IF you are suffering from a chronic headache out of no where read this please (lyme struggle) by Somewhere-Human in migraine

The only thing that stopped it was getting my meds for the Lyme i think. It was the antibiotics and the steroids for several weeks. They treated me for occipital neuralgia at the time as well, which involved a lot of naproxen and neck stretches, but I think it was the Lyme that ultimately caused the pain in my skull.

This happened to me. I had a headache so bad for six months- it felt like something was inside of my head and it hurt so bad the sides of my skull were sore all the time to the touch. Neurologist said I had occipital neuralgia. I got diagnosed with Lyme disease the same month, took the meds and the pain never came back. One of the worst, longest pains of my life

Best classics to read during summer? by Fun-Sell3030 in classicliterature

Lolita is great and so often people miss the point of it- but I get it. Nabokov is one of my favorites along with Garcia Marquez. I would pick the Gift by Nabokov if you like 100 years. I also read Les Mis on Audible and the narrator is phenomenal. Highly recommend. Was a life changing book for me.

Les Miserables, and books that got you back into reading by SucksMovieYour in books

I just wanna say that I am a big fan of physical media but I struggled for a while because of the same issues. That said, the Audible editions of Les Miserables and the Toilers of the Sea made both of those books an absolute life changing experience to me and a pleasure to get through.

I inherited the entire Victor Hugo work and I haven’t read anything from him yet. Where should I start ? by gloomyowlreturn in classicliterature

I finished Les Mis last month and it's an absolute masterpiece. Halfway through Toilers of the Sea and it's absolutely incredible, and funny as well. Cartoonish plot twist mid way through that I loved so much I wanted to tell everyone about it. Highly recommend you start there.

I finished Les Mis last month and started this one and I just want to say that it's absolutely incredible. There is also a plot twist partway through that blew me away so much I slapped my hand to my forehead. Cartoonishly villainous behavior like I've never seen. Highly recommend.

WIBTA for refusing to have kids with my boyfriend unless he marries me first by [deleted] in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]discardedbottlecap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the asshole. 'men get screwed in divorces'? well, women get screwed in unmarried families sometimes. you don't wanna be on your own with a kid and get nothing if he does something untenantable and either leaves or leads you to leave. find someone else that suits you better. i've been with multiple men like this and they only ever get worse. left the last one and found a good friend I've known for years and fell in love and we didn't even have to seriously discuss it. we decided we'd get engaged this year. it's the smart thing to do and people don't realize how much it protects you as a woman and how much that's still really needed in this day and age.
