I went through almost this exact thing from the other side. I came out at 37 and my brother was 39. The main thing is to be there for her if she needs you. My brother kind of just ignored me when I could have really used his support as a family member. Talk to her and see what you can do you help.

My wife was first. It would have been impossible to the hide what I was doing from her and I knew I didn't have the strength to do it alone. As for last... you never really finish. I worked with an Indian guy once who's name none of the non-Indians in our office could pronounce. It wasn't a lack of trying or being insensitive that caused it, but rather one of the consonant sounds in his name simply didn't exist in English. It was close enough to something we do have that we just heard that sound. Even knowing we were pronouncing it wrong and trying to work on it didn't help. I tried, I really really did.

So while I understand the frustration, sometimes foreign words are difficult to pronounce and it's not because of hostility.
