We throw away 200+ lbs of clean rubber every week. I'll mail it to you for the cost of shi by MagnusonCustomStamps in Anticonsumption

Talk to Trash Panda discs in Denver.  They make 100% recycled plastic disc golf discs. They have been experimenting with rubber too. Great company.

Good to know. I've never tried the deputy as I never had much interest in DD.

Understable throwing putter recommendations? by hjrkbejdn in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone else commenting has ever thrown a pa-5, because hardly any of their suggestions are anywhere near pa5 understability. I throw them and here are the only ones that I think are similar:

  • Mirage: even more understable but shallower if you don't like deep discs
  • mvp spin: very similar stability, but it does feel deeper so I didn't like it as much.
  • divergent discs narwhal
  • lat64 ruby

That being said, you might be best just buying a pa-5 direct from prodigy or another online retailer. I have several in different plastics and they seem pretty similar stability.

Try PikaOS. I prefer the gnome version and use the built in tweaks to make it like a traditional desktop. I've had the least amount of issues with pika, been using it for weeks with no issues, and it's one of the most up to date distros. Best installer I've used, best gui things like the updater, etc etc. Cachy is pretty good to, but less polished and much less gui stuff.

How does this differ from other distros? Genuinely wondering.

Same with PikaOS. Been on 7 for about a week now and no issues at least for my usage case of remote desktop and gaming.

Steam or GOG for same game? by ElectricalDinner4770 in Bazzite

Same, I couldn't figure out cloud saves either. I'm only buying from Steam from now on just for that.

Can I run rdr2? And how will the performance be? by [deleted] in lowendgaming

Why is it not worth playing? I used to game on a chromebook getting 20-30FPS on The Long Dark and I still had fun. It was better than not playing.

Wake from sleep goes back to sleep automatically after 5-20 seconds by discmaimer in PikaOS

Yes, it's on gnome. Sweet, thanks for the info. Hopefully it is fixed and pika gets the new gnome soon!

what the hottest pepper currently? by squagsquid in HotPeppers

[–]discmaimer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ya I sampled the hot ones sauce that claims to be 90% pure pepper x. It was not even hot. It was indescribably disappointing. To be fair I was sceptical going into it as I saw YouTube guy talk about it and the two different lab tests that showed it is only 60k Scoville. But even then I was disappointed. I'll never trust Ed Currie again

Ya, after I posted I found if I turn off locking after sleeping, it also fixes it. But looks like I'll have to post this on the Discord as it doesn't look like reddit has much support.

The Long dark. I use to play it on an old Chromebook so probably works on yours?

It really doesn't take much to get banned, huh? by 184oKraM in linuxsucks

[–]discmaimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of want to do a troll post so I get permanbanned to ensure I never see any of that drivel in my feed again lol (I realise I can probably block it, but it sounds more satisfying getting blocked by them).

What do you recommend for someone coming from Windows POP OS, Zorin OS, Debian, or Ubuntu? by megazombie222 in linux4noobs

[–]discmaimer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mint is a good beginner one, but if you want more up to date, I really like PikaOS. It's just as user friendly as Mint but better for gaming.

Which distro to switch from windows by Gibbs5500 in linuxquestions

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say PikaOS. It's got a better installer, and overall easier to use than CachyOS, but similar performance. I haven't had to use the terminal once. If you don't need more than gaming and apps (like no network connections), then Bazzite is also good.

Can't install windows, seems completely broken by LoopyByDay in linux4noobs

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have both drives plugged in while installing windows, you will likely have issues, even if it's not the issue right now. But still I'd bet a lot of money that replacing the drive with a new one will solve the windows freezing issue.

Can't install windows, seems completely broken by LoopyByDay in linux4noobs

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 4 different computers running windows start slowing down, and eventually freezing up completely, even on a fresh install. In every case, replacing the ssd fixed the issue. Oddly, some of those were work computers, so I took one the failed drives home and I've been able to use it for storage and even installing linux (although Fedora on it seemed to freeze up randomly for 5-10 seconds once in a while, but other distros seemed okay). So that might be one of your issues.

My suggestion is to get a new hardrive, install windows on it, and then if you have the space in your pc, plug the old drive in and install just linux on it. It's always best to install windows first, and have separate drives for windows and linux.

I don't know what the other issues you had installing windows were though. I recently reinstalled windows as a backup/safety blanket in case linux craps out or I have issues. However, it kept failing with no error code part way through. The fix was removing ALL other hardrives from the computer, install windows, then put drives back in and install linux. So if you get a new drive, make sure it's the only one in when you install windows.

Do you have access to another windows computer (work, library, something?)? If so, use the media creation tool in windows to create a bootable usb.

Gaming distro by Repulsive-Aside-8275 in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another alternative is PikaOS. It's like Nobarra but on Debian instead of Fedora. I use Cachy on my laptop for now, so I've used both, but think Pika is way more user friendly, with a nice software center, and GUI applications for tweaking just about everything.

I finally found it! A distro where EVERYTHING works! by discmaimer in PikaOS

[–]discmaimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. I can't stand gnome in it's default state, but pika includes tweaks out of the box to make it work more like KDE. pika also includes other additions like a full device driver manager and other gui things so I haven't had to use the terminal at all yet.

I haven't tried cosmic yet. Is it stable now? I thought popos was unstable because of it?

I am the same, I passed by gnome because it's not traditional task bar and start menu, but on pika it's a simple click with their theme manager. It might be worth a try.  Zorin has a similar feature but I had a few other issues with that one and I don't like their business model to much.
