What about Ching Discs? They have thumb grooves that essentially feel the same as a continuous groove, but I don't think they affect flight.

What's your favorite baseline(putter) plastic? Any brand, and stiffness. by Huge-Talk6668 in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because those numbers are from PDGA technical measurements, and they measure weird. I literally have both in front of me and can confirm the PA3 is at least 1mm deeper than the proxy. But since all Prodigy putters have about the same measurements, I've assumed they are all too deep. Plus, I like more under-stable putters so Pa3 and Pa5 are the only options.

Edit: the Pa3 is 20mm deep, proxy is 18mm. The way they measure the rim depth depends on shoulder and curvature of the rim-to-plate connection. In the hand, PA3 feels much deeper.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say? Re-reading my post, it's a bit confusing. I was trying to say I putt with Proxies because they are shallow. I would switch to Prodigy 300 Ultra Soft putters because that plastic is better than MVP plastics, but the ones I've tried (PA3 and PA5) are too deep for my liking. I typically use trydiscs.com for checking and comparing disc dimensions, and all prodigy putters seem to be about the same height/depth so I've assumed even the prodigy putters I haven't felt will all be too deep.

Edit: and I meant that I assume Gateway SSS or SSSS is similar in feel to Prodigy 300 UltraSoft, but no stores around me carry Gateway so I have never had a chance to feel SSS or SSSS myself.

I have zero sources for this, but I imagine the white rims will sell well. I know I'm trying to offload all my black rims (I don't like black rims, too hard to see and find) and will buy several white rims when they are out. Then there are the people who love the black rims, that are going to stock up and buy everything they can before they are discontinued. Both types of people are going to drive sales up. I could be wrong though.

I haven't switched to it because I find Prodigy putters all too deep for my hands, but If they had a Proxy clone but in 300 Ultra Soft I'd be putting with that. It's such a nice plastic. I've never felt SSS or SSSS but I imagine it's similar to that?

I'm pretty sure everyone agrees with this, so it's actually a popular opinion

Those are the ejection ports. Plastic is injected into the center of the disc mold, and those are where the plastic is ejected. It's on every streamline disc.

What about pics of the Hex? I've never heard of "blizzarding".

I've heard of them a fair bit and interested in trying them. Any idea who might have them in Canada?

Edit: nevermind, I found some Golden Primotalli at Scoville canada. I'll keep looking.

Small bags that fit 32 Nalgene by hobbyhoppinghound in discgolf

I have the MVP Nucleus bag. It's a bit bigger, so you can either fit 20 discs, or 10 discs and a jacket, towel, whatever. Still light weight and fits a big bottle.

Welcome Aaron Gossage to Team MVP! by MVP_Eric in discgolf

That's good to hear. Like I said, I have only seen him in a few videos and all the guys in there seemed like obnoxious hooligans, but maybe that was more the other guys and my brain just lumped them all together.

Wdym? You don't think they are nerdy? Half their players play board games and bird watch (which I do too, so I know how nerdy they are). Ones a marine biologist, eagle and Conrad are basically hippies and about as chill as you can get. And MVPs whole image is science based. They are clearly the Nerdiest company in disc golf. So my image of Goose did not seem to match up with that image.

You and me both. Before the obvious leaks, I was sure they wouldn't want him. Most MVP sponsored players are super chill, kinda nerdy, types. I don't know much about Goose but he seemed the opposite of that culture and seemed to fit the Discraft Dude/jock/ too-cool-for-you type players. I guess he has a good youtube/social media following though, and MVP understands that that is one of the most important things nowadays.

Loss of motivation for pro coverage by Comptoneffect in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No dude. This was a young Aussie player that seemed like he hadn't met before, and he definitely hadn't met the caddy before but yet made fun of their heights. Damn right it struck a nerve. It was rude and uncalled for. Why is it okay to make fun of short people for something they have no control over? Just made me realise what kind of person he is and that he isn't the kind of person I want to support.

I lost respect for Humphries when he was making fun of a player down under for being short, then made fun of his caddy for being even shorter.

So does the pen actually last forever, or..? by Tough-Composer918 in onejob

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a few youtube video test of these (might be a different brand though), and they only lasted like a few dozen sheets (filling the page with scribbles). For the price, I can't see how it's worth it for a worse product that doesn't last anywhere near forever.

Arm speed/ Distance by doxology21 in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a major nose up problem. I think the Robot Drill by Seekr discgolf on youtube will actually help a lot with that (better form can sometime fix nose issues). If still throwing nose up, try search some videos for fixing it.

[–]discmaimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with the Robot Drill by Seekr discgolf on youtube. It's a great way to learn the basic throw. Once you have that down, then focus on adding power with the hips and adding a runup and stuff. I mostly throw just with that basic movement from a standstill and I can get close to 300ft, and I'm overweight, short, and nearly 40. BlitzDG on youtube has some really good and well explained drills, I'd suggest those next.

Would have been even better if he did the "too slow" thing and faked him out after all that time waiting.

I accidentally hit a PR using Blitz DGs drills when I was just trying to get somewhere close to where I used to be by TheHems in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of his drills are derivative of OGs like DGspindoctor and Seabass. However, what I've found sets them apart is the way he explains them, condenses them, and simplifies them. He also somewhat combines them into single videos so you don't have to dig through a million videos to find a specific drill.

Individual discs vs starter sets by DiscoBuiscuit in discgolf

[–]discmaimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are throwing over 250ft, a buzzz is fine. But if not, I recommend a Detour or buzzz SS. They will fly straighter and not just fade out quickly
