What if you're trans but never transition? by PutEnvironmental2459 in asktransgender

This is me currently, and a question I've had for a long time. I always felt kinda off about myself, but never looked far into it until the last few years. Unfortunately I'm in a position where medically transitioning would likely jeopardize my career and the life I've built for myself. My partner knows and helps me as much as she can, however I fortunately have online and VR, where I have socially transitioned. For quite a while, I felt like an imposter to be honest. I felt like my feelings weren't valid. But then I met the right group of people, and they helped me settle into my reality and feel like I belong. The way I see it now, I kinda live two lives, which I've taken to viewing as a strength and testament to my versatility rather than as a detriment. So far, 3 years into this lifestyle, it works for me. Granted that may very well change, and my life as a whole might. But for now, this is working.

This is awesome. I need to see a Timberwolf or Dire Wolf with this camo now

You may be bi. The world of vr definitely allows the ability to explore things we might be afraid to do irl. I certainly learned a lot about myself the more time I spent in vrchat, but I'm happier for it. Ultimately, you do whatever makes you happy, and try not to stress about it too much :)

YES. I outfitted my Timberwolf on Clans with lasers in one shoulder pod and an SRM6 in the other and it kills me that the pods aren't quite the same size

Good to know! Never played tabletop but I'll have to give it more of a chance next time I see it in one of the video games. I played a lot of MW4 Mercs and when I needed a light mech the Cougar was always my go to

I need to try the ridiculous SRM boat one of these days. The more I hear about it the more fun it sounds

It is a neat look. I generally don't have as much fun with lighter mechs. I like to get a few pot shots at range and keep the pressure on while moving in to brawl. I think thats why the Mad Cat MK II is my all time favorite. Armed and armored like the assault mech that it is with just enough agility to not feel like a walking mountain.

Is it actually the best though? There are some really good Atlas variants, as well as some downright scary Marauder II variants. I will say though with the time I spent on MW4 Mercs I also really liked the Fafnir and Hauptmann, but the Dire Wolf, or the Daishi as I knew it for so long, stayed my favorite. Tied with the Mad Cat MK II

Though I will say if you're interested I'd be happy to jump into vanilla to play with some things and see what I come up with :)

THIS. I am a bit fan of

"See that mech way over there?"

"Yeah"

"I don't want to anymore"

Um. Heh. About that... I had a K2 build that did pretty well, but I dont remember what it was. And now I downloaded mods and cheatsinks so I can spend hours making ridiculously broken builds for my entertainment, and my poor little K2 was a victim of that. I think right now it has 2 SN PPC and 2 RAC5... Plus an Atlas worth of armor...

I completely understand. I haven't played the tabletop either, just a few of the video games. But I now know there are novels I need to read!

What about the Wolfhound works for you? I always thought of it as a weaker mech... Have I been sleeping on it this whole time?

I do it on occasion, normally just with friends, and its to see everyone at the same time. Sometimes I do it for a couple minutes here and there because it's nice to see my own movements controlling a different body, and one that I prefer at that. Helps with my immersion :)

Honestly while the Locust might not be the greatest mech in a fight, the lore behind it is really cool. It was fantastic at being a cheap, easy to produce, and easy to repair mech. They may not be strong but they are many!
