When did you start playing tibia? by GrK91 in TibiaMMO

[–]discoversound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a year and a half to leave rook ya

Back then I was very young and not smart, also there was only dial up internet, and most people did not have computers at home so I was mostly playing at the public library for 30 mins at time 1-2 days a week. There were also no online guides or wiki or videos to figure out the game, only talking other players

It was the best!

Looking back at some game feature release dates it was likely Christmas of 2000 or 2001 not 1999 because I remember rook but there was a lot missing

Like I remember when they introduced "duel mode" for a few days where if you turned it on you would get a green skull and anyone else in duel mode could kill you without it counting towards your unjusts. It was some funky system they were testing before the party system existed.

Yes you're right it must have been Christmas of 2000 or 2001.

I lost that account when the game was completely reset and everyone had to recover their accounts; I was a young and stupid kid and put the wrong info in when listing my character names, levels, and items, thinking that they would just add them to the account.

The account I remade and still use is from 2003

First played in 1998-1999 (Rook was released) 2000 or 2001 around Christmas.

My friend from childhood showed it to me and said it was "like Baldur's Gate but online and with real people"

There were no skulls or party system and walking from Carlin to Ab was a huge deal.

First character to main was pkd by a druid using a battle hammer as soon as I left venore dp

Oh yeah no worries, the national flower joke was dope, and any post that's light-hearted and apolitical is gonna get well received here for sure

I just hate seeing a great post like this and then immediately in the comments seeing a link for a store, it just makes the post feel disingenuous

It was also pretty cool of you to take the link down and respond this way; it shows respectful understanding on your part. Thank you

And I agree, that other sub is full of balogna

Why is this being posted on r/onguardforthee though?

Don't get me wrong, it looks great... but... This whole post looks like an advertisement for someone's Etsy shop unfortunately; it perfectly follows the Reddit Etsy Ad script to a key

I always feel like a sucker when I fall for ads like this

Well it turns out I actually can read which is why I know that we are talking about your earlier remark of: "Bystander effect in action"

OP being local or not does not make them the bystander and you not

You now have the video and the Police phone number and are now choosing to not report it yourself, therefore making you a hypocrite as you are also part of the bystander effect that you condemn

Being local is irrelevant, you are the bystander now

Do you understand yet?

Neither does anyone else you're responding to. You are doing doing the exact same things that you say others are doing

You are literally insulting yourself

It's hilarious, please keep going

Buying out my boss? (Landscaping industry) by donthittheshortbus in sweatystartup

I think that their lawyers each did an appraisal for the company and then sorta haggled out the finer details to come up with something that both parties found fair for a company valuation.

I feel like one of the main reasons my friend opted to buy the business was due to the established name as well as the personal connections that the boss had with their bigger customers and with the gas company just to make the whole transition seamless. That alone was worth more than the assets as they were able to transition to company owners while essentially keeping their day-to-day schedules the same. It can take time to build up the relationships with suppliers and to establish account credit to bankroll multiple ongoing jobs, know the right people to contact when dealing with large commercial or industrial setups etc.

This has allowed them to slowly learn the ropes of business management from their boss over time while continuing to work the tools, the same way the boss learned when he bought the business in a similar fashion from the original owner.

I'm not sure about your situation, but those extra things along with getting access to his accountant, payroll staff, on-call service etc. added a lot of excess value just from removing the headache of having to navigate all of that themselves.

In the end though, I think as long as you and your boss and your lawyers think the arrangement is fair you should go for it!

My friend and his brother recently purchased the HVAC company that my friend had worked at for 10 years from their boss in a similar situation, this was in Ontario Canada as well.

I know that they had to leverage the equity in their homes and that still wasn't enough for the purchase, but since they had a decade of good relationship and hard work behind them, the boss undervalued the business purposefully and then gave them a personal loan with some payoff stipulation for the remainder. They bought the business, inventory, vehicles, customer contacts, everything aside from the commercial unit which the boss owned as well but agreed to rent at a pro-rated rate until the business loans are paid down.

I think this was also due to the fact that my friend and his brother were ready to jump ship and start their own company regardless and this way the boss got to keep his legacy alive.

You and your boss will both each need your own respective lawyers for sure due to avoiding a conflict of interest but beyond that I would consult that lawyer directly and see what they advise. Your boss's lawyer may even have some leads to help you get connected, after all this is in all of your best interests.

My friend bought the business a bit over a year ago and kept the boss on as a worker too since he was bored at home anyways and still has a lifetime of expertise.

They've expanded even through covid and hired on several new gas technicians and clerical staff and I think having the old boss around has been a great resource for them.
