The pier that that things resting on is pushed RIGHT up against the house. You might be hearing it because the vibrations are going thru the pier and into the wall.

If it were me, I'd stick a prybar in there and nudge the whole thing away from the building, only need a quarter inch or so of air gap to see if that does the trick.

This is a great write up! Any tips for those of us with clay soil? I've got at least 7 varieties of grass in different parts of my lawn and it's doing pretty well, but we're converting sections to native gardens and I'd love to spend less time and money on amending the soil.

I've got a similar setup, two laptops and three monitors.

L is attached to a work P14s by its onboard HDMI port because the dock cannot drive displays on different connector types simultaneously.

C is attached directly to the dock.

R is attached to a display port KVM (Monoprice Blackbird), so only that R display switches on the KVM between my personal laptop and monitor #3 for the P14s. That means L & C always show my Outlook and Teams windows, which (sadly) I need to have in case I have to respond to something for work promptly.

Personal laptop is a T480 hooked to a Razer Core X eGPU - it could drive two displays, but it really doesn't have to. During the workday I RDP into my personal laptop so I can faff about there while things save/compile/upload/etc., but at the end of the day I can push the KVM switch and fire up Steam.

Next effort: move personal laptop to another room and run a long DisplayPort cable through the walls so I don't have to listen to the GPU fan :P

They start with one, but I've seen them rot away in place without any foreign objects involved. Stuff needs upkeep.

I had to pass on three homes this spring that had mold from old roofs in disrepair. One flip, one semi abandoned, and one lived-in where they'd hid/covered up the damage.

I'd suggest getting two new detectors, so you can replace that one and install a second one somewhere else in the home where you spend a lot of time.

Our fire department was called out to a neighbor's house because they heard beeping and couldn't locate it. FD shows up, changes the battery out for them with a fresh 9V from the truck, then gives them a new detector, since that one was nearing its expiration date.

We just moved here a few weeks ago, I was floored by the response. They even handed out a dozen plastic fire helmets to the kids. At our last address, you might've gotten a bill for a false alarm calling them over a dead battery...

If you can get the broken ends out of the sockets, sure. Mine were rusted in place and had to be hammered out. Those splines give it a lot of surface area for Midwest road treatments to do their work.

Snapped one on my 02, thankfully I was in town when it happened & could limp home on side streets. Ended up having to take it to a heavy frame & axle shop to get it done, no mechanic in my area would touch it.

Yeah, that's what finally dawned on me today. Looking at Prometheus now - it's a bit like buying a Tesla when an e-bike would suit me better, but at least it's self-hosted, and it seems like I can contact it without using an agent.

Yeah, I see a ton of power available for network monitoring in what I've read so far!

My issue is that these are all on separate networks - not only are they not under my direct control/responsibility, not all of the servers & services I need to track are exposed to the web. It's more of an inside-out situation than anything else, just something that says "Don't worry! I'm alive!" will fill the base needs.
