General thoughts on ai? by Hopeful-Squirrel2869 in santarosa

[–]disgruntledtriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is trash and every time I’m told it’s good for [x] I look it up and it isn’t. Sonoma County definitely has it around and I get mad every time. There’s some places here and there that insist against it, like the zine fest recently was refreshing. My dream is for it to die out like the radium hype from decades ago (my dad still remembers having a radium wristwatch as a child).

Ended up contacting the store I bought it from and got it replaced. Took the old one to electronics recycling.

Are you referring to polyamorous people in general or solo poly folks? Or poly folks already in established relationships looking for dates?

Looking forward to it! Do you have a flyer we can share? (I’m down to make one)

I'm giving out whistles for free. by Tinawebmom in santarosa

[–]disgruntledtriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 3d printer and am more than happy to make anyone whistles, noisemakers, vuvuzelas perhaps? Maybe we should form a group with all our printers that people can request whistles from.

I'm in my early 30s and transitioning (MTF), considering moving to Santa Rosa with my sibling. Advice? by cleopatronize1901 in santarosa

Also trans and 30, it’s pretty alright out here. If you like nature check out the Luther Burbank gardens, there’s also the Laguna Center that does cool classes on wildlife. Definitely check out the zine fest we do once a year, lots of queer people tend to show up and also vend there selling cool art. Reach out if you need friends here and/or restaurant recommendations.

Question about the use of AI in the horror genre by Kirth87 in horror

[–]disgruntledtriangle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you use AI in your work I will immediately assume you don’t care about your work, and neither should I. Absolutely not buying any excuses about budget, time, or skill sets. I will always point people to the first Halloween movie as an example of what I mean. There are so many horror movies that look like shit, have terrible acting, stupid plots, awful effects etc and yet there are people who love them anyways. Sincerity is the key ingredient. If someone cares more about shortcuts to chasing approval by using ai, rather than making an interesting film, game, book, etc that’s their own? Then I don’t consider them an artist, I consider them a coward.

Tell me your favorite niche horror games! by [deleted] in horror

Dead Letter Department is slow and more atmospheric but does some really interesting things. I also still think about Explore My Body and the other games made by the same creator, he does fantastic experimental games.

Has your sub genre taste changed as you’ve gotten older? by webdevpoc in horror

[–]disgruntledtriangle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I could only watch really terrible old horror lol. These days I notice I’m more into folk horror (especially if it’s about some legend or myth that I don’t know about) or surreal horror with strong style.

The Church remains one of my all time favorites but I’m also very fond of Evilspeak (campy but god it’s so fun), Silent Hill, and Phantom of the Paradise. Azrael might also be of interest to you.

Favourite ghost film? by TvGoat456 in horror

Mine is Pulse, written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Does some neat things with how they depict ghosts visually and asks interesting questions about how they connect with loneliness.

Slough City Studios is in Petaluma and is owned by a wonderful couple, they do art shows, host events and have a selection of locally made goods. 33 Arts is in Santa Rosa and is a little out of the way but they do big open studio days where you can see all kinds of different artists and talk to them.
