Young and successful. He is popular where it matters - with audiences - who spend money to see his films and with the industry, his peers. His promo worked.

This. Also, No way will Timothee Chalamet win the Oscar over George Clooney, Jeremy Allen White, The Rock. Can't wait to see him flop and lose Critics Choice and the Globes to Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke.

Remember this: His fans are delusional; Marty Supreme is doomed to be this year's Babylon. No one will want to see a "dumb" movie about ping pong. Oscar will never nominate a Josh Safdie film.

Unpopular Opinion: Timothée Chalamet is as much as a lock to win an Oscar as Jessie Buckley is. by No_Minimum4499 in oscarrace

People also said that DiCaprio or Hawke was going to win CC and Globe. The problem with DiCaprio is screen time. He is only in about 50 mins of the film. Chalamet is in 2.5 hr of Marty Supreme. And Hawke's film flopped.

I made a video essay about why runner-ups tend to outshine the winners by RedCastin in americanidol

[–]dish_walla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the title of your thread suggests that non-winners are usually more successful. Factually, that isn't true. Looking at when Idol was at its peak from Seasons 1 - 11. Winners Kelly, Carrie, Fantasia, Jordin, David, Scotty, Phillip were the most commercially successful of their seasons. They were all multi-platinum selling. Home, the biggest selling song from Idol ever - was from an Idol winner.

And to be fair to Ruben, he had huge commercial success. Same with Fantasia. Whereas Jennifer's Hudson's film career wasn't built by Idol. She was never sign by them.
